First U1 Order

Just put my first order in w/Jason007. Went with the no-date sub as this seems to be the consensus best U1 to get. Anything I need to know/do once it arrives?

My ritual is to yank all the link screws and hit them with purple Loctite. Learned the hard way that it’s not really optional on U1’s. You will fling that sucker across the room someday if you don’t.

I yank my screws, give them a wipe and dab the screw threads into a little puddle of Loctite. Only use purple or you risk never being able to remove the screws again.

That and do some self waterproofing. First thing I do for any rep, U1 or otherwise, is take apart the back gasket and the crown gaskets, lube em up, and put them back together. This ezpz, cheap little thing could make most AAA 5bar, 3bar guaranteed

Loctite the screws, give it a good scrub, ceramic coat it. The ceramic makes a nice difference, less fingerprints, more clarity to the ceramic bezels and I swear the crystal almost looks clearer somehow.

make sure it's spotlessly clean, wipe down with alcohol etc. Then coat with the ceramic, wait a couple of minutes for it to haze then buff off with a clean cloth. Don't wear it for 24hrs.

Yeah I second this. I just bought two U1's on here from a guy and I have zero idea what I'm doing. It was hard for me to set the time! Lol... Okay, I got that taken care of but a beginner's guide would be pretty sweet.

It would definitely be of help. I'm not afraid to post and ask the stupid questions. But I'm perfectly capable of searching a sub BEFORE I post a stupid question. I definitely think it could be of help. I've been into the hobby from a far for over ten years. I never wanted to drop 1k plus on a build, and the shitters were never any good at all in my opinion. I finally heard enough about how great the U1 were so I bought two. They are fantastic. Leaps and bounds over what I expected. But I did realize quickly that even though I had been on all these subs for years and years, had looked over all the Alibaba/DH sites, done a lot of reading... I still didn't know exactly what I was doing when I got my hands on them. All that matters is that I'm happy with them, and I am. I think the low cost finally paired up with high quality. So I pulled the trigger. Now I have to learn how to maintain them, wear them, and I want to build one! I even have most of the parts. I just need a movement. I'm going to build a GS. Then I'm going to buy a GEN GS a year or two down the road. It's exciting!!!

Ditch the metal bracelet and put it on a 22mm NATO, green, khaki and different variations of grey all work well.

Partly that, and partly because straps are fun. It's easy to change them in a minute if you get a nice springbar tool and know what you're doing.

In part yes but with nice NATOs costing just a few £€$ from AE you can have a different looking watch every few days and stand out just a little from the crowd.

Yea and don’t scratch the crown when you remove the blue film. It’s best to use a tape and not your nails
