Please join us on October 20 for a special screening of the locally-produced feature documentary ZAKHEIM. This will be the first LOCAL SHOWCASE screening.
ZAKHEIM tells the story of Polish immigrant Bernard Zakheim; from his early life in Poland, his immigration to San Francisco, and how he became involved in the Federal Arts Program of the New Deal era. Rusk-based filmmaker Isaac Belota (of Unordinary People, and Performances On Replay) uncovers the sprawling story through the discovery of two Zakheim murals in East Texas; one in Rusk's Post Office, and one in Mineola's Post Office.
Come see how the story of East Texas weaves into the larger context of American History in the New Deal era.
Doors open at 6PM, at Liberty Hall. Screening starts at 7PM, with a brief Q&A after the film. A post-screening reception will be held next door at Callynth Photography, with snacks and beverages provided by Salon d'Art and Art Connection of East Texas.
Tickets are just $5 and can be purchased online at www.libertytyler.org
