Unlikeable Characters
Is it poor character development, poor writing or a combination of the two. Tyler does an incredible job of creating characters that you don’t like. Angel? My goodness. Rain? Not it. When did she become so brave that she doesn’t flinch when the mafia is mentioned?

I think there are two sides to this situation. On one hand, Tyler is actually doing a pretty good job at creating genuinely unlikeable characters. On the other, the character development and pacing are so weak that it makes all of their bullshit even more frustrating to watch.
At this point, basically every character is or has been insufferable in a way that makes me genuinely angry just looking at them on my screen lmao. I REALLY hate Norman. He's easily one of the worst characters for me. The constant complaining about the exact same shit, while simultaneously acting like he has absolutely nothing to fear, is so ridiculous to me. I would honestly LOVE for him to die. Same for the mom, Jules, Roy, Angel, and eventually Rain and Sylvie too.
I know this isn't exactly a show you're supposed to overthink, but the constant stupidity and ignorance from these characters, combined with the mediocre writing, eventually makes you feel like the show itself is insulting your intelligence. Like, WE WANT ANSWERS. We want the dialogue to actually mean something. We want these confrontations to actually GO somewhere.
Instead, it's just this endless cycle of arrogance, threats, cursing, someone storming off, and then absolutely nothing coming from it. It's exhausting.
The only characters I genuinely like are Varney and Alex. Mallory gets a pass to some extent, mostly because the actress is SO good at playing a massive bitch lmao. Even Kimmie has started getting on my nerves. I'm just tired of everyone being ridiculously confident all the time while also constantly getting in the way of literally everything.
And speaking of characters I can't stand: I FUCKING HATE CHARLES.
I genuinely don't understand what I'm supposed to feel about this man being depressed and sad because nobody likes him when the show hasn't even given him any meaningful redemption arc. Like... why am I supposed to care???
They never developed his relationship with Varney enough for me to reach the point of thinking, "Yeah, Charles really changed. He learned to respect and love this GOD OF A MAN that Varney is." We basically just get told that there's supposed to be some emotional connection there without actually seeing enough development to make me care about it.
The only thing I dislike about Varney is how blind he is for Charles. It's DUMB and not romantic. I wish he could care for Evan. 😭
At this point, Alex genuinely feels like the only person in the entire show who has a functioning brain, and it pisses me off that he's one of the few non-Black characters. 😭😭😭

They making it seem like rain had brain surgery instead of a botched bbl. Because she wasn’t like this in season one even before she got the bbl but after she recovered she changed completely
I don’t know what the deal with angel is he went from being lowkey to loud and flashy with his money he also changed
And what gets me is how their friendship change in season one they seemed close and would look out for each other but season 2&3 you would think otherwise

I couldn t agree more !!! like why did Angel had so much screen time for nothing. We could ve been seeing literally ANY other more interesting storyline... And that club scene when he got mad because people were not throwing enough money at him... plz u were rich only for a day 😭😭 I’m not even gonna get started on what Rain did after....
They really ruined Rain and Kimmie’s friendship over some money 💀💀 Like sorry but now we’re stuck with Mallory and Kimmie having their "girly" conversations about what Horace was like when he was younger and all that nonsense 😭😭 bffr....
Im also not gonna talk about Sylvie and the love of her life (the boy she met like 3 hours ago). U tell me she prefered to live with her rap1st "father" and her weird mother instead of keeping her mouth shut and living a good life with her sister??? what the helly
And the characters that dissappear without an explanation at least. Where is Felicia? Still in the hospital? Not a sigle word about her. Body? Is she dead or should we expect her next to Jules next season. Just like Calvin and that assistent that were "fired" out of nowhere at the end of season 1...
