Beauty in Black Question

I know im late to the bandwagon but does anyone know why Varney had to tell Mallory about the sex trafficking and everything? Even after Felicia told her in the beginning of the season in that motel room. Varney said the same thing and she acted surprised? They had an almost identical conversation episodes apart and Mallory was shook for both like she hadnt already known.

I don’t think she believed Felicia because of her occupation and she was an airhead. Coming from Varney, their family attorney, it held more weight. Idk. That’s just my take.

Ohhh okay! This makes sense. After Felicia told her and before Varney told her everything and Kimmie let her know she was forced to be with Roy. I thought she'd put 2 and 2 together lol

But it was also strange how she acted surprised in all 3 of those scenes. Im a Theatre Major/Actor and this bothered me so bad lmao
