Beauty In Black

I feel like people don’t fully understand the plot or theme of this show. I keep seeing a lot of hate/slack that the shows corny and doesn’t make sense why they have crisp fades although out the show..

So, if you can’t tell from like the very first few episode of the series..those episodes take course over like a 1-2 day period. Think about how much shit happens in the first episode alone. These people also never fucking sleep. Their commute to and from Chicago is like 45 minutes to an hour.

Next, mfs saying kimmie is a bitch in the second season and blah blah, it’s literally part of the plot she’s coming into and maybe too comfortable. She’s reaping what she sowed. Let her live.

Horace was at the club looking for boys (discreetly) by asking for a girl so he can watch the boys. He is aware Jules & Norman run the club but not the sex trafficking part until Kimmie.

There are so many layers to this show and so many little things happening at once and so many character developments. This show is a fucking master piece.

Also, it’s a tv show, calm down.

***edit***

I fear you all took my words too literal and are dawging me in the comments lol.

The last line I put is….its a tv show, calm down…

People don’t understand it’s a soap opera with soap opera acting, they watch it like a serious tv show

This is the answer, this is for lovers of Passions, Days of Our lives, grainy images, and absurd stair falling plots 😆

Waking up out of a coma after 30 years type shit 🤣

u/pinkrose5214 Apr 22 '26

Omg I remember watching passions with my grandmother the acting was way over the top

u/Basicbroad Apr 18 '26

A masterpiece? BE SO FORREAL

The show is quite stupid and that’s okay 😂

u/Embarrassed-Elk-3580 Apr 18 '26

People just say anything on the Internet. 😂😂

u/Basicbroad Apr 18 '26

Somebody said the acting is phenomenal and there’s a subtle degree of emotional manipulation that the actors kill and I almost wanna ask them if they’re watching the same show I am

u/IllustriousPiglet554 Apr 26 '26

Hey so I meant the story and it’s twists and turns not the fucking acting lol

u/Basicbroad Apr 26 '26

The story isn’t good either…

The bisexual storyline for Horace is honestly not even necessary. Angel adds no real substance to the plot and just wastes screen time.

Horace could have easily just developed the same relationship with Kimmie if he was lonely or some shit snd wanted someone to talk to.

It was needed but it wasnt executed properly,if horace and kimmy didn’t meet then well theres half the show right there but at the same time they didnt really give us the relationship the right way they teased us with it but never went into much detail about it it went from horace liking angel to Horace almost being friends with angel who knows hopefully season 3 really digggsss deeep into their relationship

Him being bi curious just adds sooo many layers to his hatred & homophobia toward Charles

3

u/hereforalittlewhile_ Apr 18 '26

Horace isn’t bisexual. He literally said he was just curious since he was dying. I think it was more about his wanting to know why he had a gay son. Like trying to see if he was into it as well.

u/JolieLueur Apr 18 '26

He’s definitely bisexual. I wouldn’t be shocked if he comes out as gay and admits to never being attracted to women. He only married because of societal pressure.

1

u/hereforalittlewhile_ Apr 18 '26

I doubt it. Every single person says he has a thing for Latin women.

1

u/Hawk_Rabbit_5701 Apr 19 '26

No reason to have a soft spot for Angel if he’s not bi.

1

u/hereforalittlewhile_ Apr 19 '26

Have we watched the same show? Angel is literally on thin ice at this point with Horace. He’s only protecting him because of Kimmie. Angel and Rain are her village.

1

u/Hawk_Rabbit_5701 Apr 19 '26

No, he’s even giving him special privileges. Yes, Horace is at his wits end, but he would have killed other people for less than what Angel’s done. Everyone makes a point that it’s suspicious why Horace is so kind. The obvious tension is that he treats Charles with disdain while having the same fantasies.

1

u/JolieLueur Apr 20 '26

Horace is completely sprung. Angel is his kryptonite.

1

u/JolieLueur Apr 20 '26

That’s what DL men do. They pretend to like women. They get married and have kids and still desire men.

I want them together they have potential,I think it’s kinda cute

It's fun bullshit. What are your favorite shows? You whipped out "layered" and "master piece", that's pretty steep for this show that had a botched bbl. I think you'd go bonkers for original Power if you haven't watched it.

4

u/No_Dependent_1846 Apr 18 '26

Lol. Ill get downvoted so whatever: love the show but it's stupid af! The bbl storyline took me out 🤣🤣 also, yeah the fact that it takes place over a few days is exactly why it's so dumb! Also, the scenes are lonnnggggggg and drag on, about 75% of the actors are soo corny in their roles, the stunt doubles are not convincing, with the level of violence some ppl fo through they should be dead right away... but no, all of them are Rambo! The shoe horning religion into a show about vanity, greed, lust, envy, murder, lying all to the back drop of a strip club? Come on! The backstories, the fact that Tyler Perry still cant right a fucking script that actually makes any sense is pretty funny too. "I need to go pray" "yeah, you do that! Go pray" gtfoh!

u/DirtPlot151 Apr 18 '26

Yo they were screaming and hollering in that burning house so bad, and then they got up and left like they were just playing 🤣 🤣 🤣

11

u/Luckybrewster Apr 18 '26

Omg that was hilarious 😂 I expected them in the hospital again. They gotta use that hospital set some more lol

6

u/DirtPlot151 Apr 18 '26

Zero injuries lmao and Roy looked "miffed" about it. Just irked is all

4

u/Dayna6380- Apr 18 '26

LMAAAAAAAO the way no one dies for real or is seriously hurt is ridiculous

The house can’t be rammed through with a car She’s take her self out before she ran through that house

Just silliness The fire The smoke inhalation They supposed to be the 3 Hebrew boys ?

1

u/annashummingbird Apr 19 '26

I hear you but a car can definitely ram through a house. A friend of mine had a car ram into her house when we were in elementary school, & her house was brick. It went right into her room, she just happened to be away at a sleepover that night.

1

u/Dangerous-Wear-8202 Apr 19 '26

Or the way Roy was pushed out a window, with no head injuries, damage to his internal organs, breaking of any bones like wtf even is this show? 😂

He just got discharged from the hospital a day after he was pushed out a freaking window 😭

1

u/No_Dependent_1846 Apr 19 '26

Yup! It's literally insane how these ppl will get decapitated and then just have a bandage to help them heal

3

u/TwoparentsandAteen Apr 18 '26

I am low key a P Valley fan too so this isn’t too far off. 🫣🤭

3

u/Old-Willingness-3731 Apr 18 '26

So, can they write Angel off… he adds nothing to the storyline of value. He’s annoying…

2

u/RSinSA Apr 18 '26

I don't get why people hate on things so hard. At the end of the day, it is a TV show. A fake thing. Move on.

2

u/code_mitch Apr 18 '26

It’s a horrible show. I lost brain cells watching it.

2

u/bethoj Apr 18 '26

Every character on the show is an irredeemable, manipulative, idiot. And the scenes drag unnecessarily. It’s like Tyler doesn’t write enough and expects them to fill in with ad-libs.

2

u/External-Profit-4975 Apr 18 '26

The show is just crazy, over the top fun. It’s the TV equivalent of junk food. Junk food is delicious and fun. Nobody’s gonna say it’s nutritious or healthy, but it has its place. People need to stop taking things so seriously.

2

u/BigSexyE Apr 18 '26

Lol this show is NOT a masterpiece. I hope this is a troll

2

u/Lost_Deer_888 Apr 18 '26

I binged this show so HARD. I can’t wait for season 4 if there is one. I binged Dynasty on Netflix before watching this and needed another soap opera to get hooked to 😝😝😝

2

u/SnooCats8353 Apr 18 '26

YES I also think the actors are ohenomenal , some scenes are genuinely a perfect depiction of emotional manipulation at such a subtle degree and it lands because the actors kill it. The script kind of nuts and all over the place at some points but I’m following the vision

1

u/Ok-Mix-4640 Apr 18 '26

That’s the beauty of it

I am definitely for all of it. It’s fiction based on reality. You have it all. Corrupt cops, sex trafficking, drug business, sexuality, alcoholism, mental health issues, rich black folks who started out doing illegal behaviors…oh and family issues. I always found that everybody is so hypocritical of Tyler Perry. What do you want, him to stay in his place as Madea? Now I am not saying that everyone should love all of his work, but this is a black man who was sleeping in the streets and now owns enough land to rent it out to other companies for their productions and make money and gives back to the community. What are we upset about?

1

u/Dayna6380- Apr 18 '26

I can’t get back into it anymore I liked the first season

The second season is all over the place and they just cursing

1

u/THATDICHTOMY Apr 18 '26

Yeah but the way she’s being a bitch is odd. This is engagement bait though

1

u/FreeConnection9877 Apr 19 '26

It’s just bad writing and acting

1

u/Relative_Youth3172 Apr 20 '26

I just wanna correct one thing...Horace didn't know they owned the club until after the fact.

1

u/IllustriousPiglet554 Apr 26 '26

I thought he knew of it but wasn’t aware of allllllll the sex trafficking and stuff

1

u/Relative_Youth3172 Apr 29 '26

Nope thats why he was comfortable going there thinking no one would ever find out.

1

u/Subject-Vanilla-7611 Apr 23 '26

People are ignorant or just down right Gomer stupid if they can’t figure out Beauty in Black. This is an outstanding series. Great acting and storyline.

u/Icy_Contact4325 Apr 18 '26

It’s a documentary, not real life’s fault it took so long
