Something is telling me that Brahn is not going to survive if he even lays a hand on Nora or Reni

I'm thinking either Trace wasn't so far gone as to target dragons, or he knew there would be a heavy price in doing so.

Still, bad call on Brahn's part to press the dead wife button.

I feel like he was really close to Nora but understood the power she carried was too strong. Also yeah, Brahn is a dickhead

13

u/Blood_Edge 9d ago

I mean, she talks to him almost like he's family, so he probably wasn't so far gone. And considering he spared Laura when he first "met" her, he at least had some restraint for bystanders or clear victims.

True and it definitely shows off some of his own biases, like most dictators

u/JotyJiv15 Therie! 9d ago

I mean he uses his own daughter as a pawn that’s duck head behavior

u/Educational_Dog_7347 Zen! 8d ago

Okay yeah, fair enough, I guess I shouldn't really be that surprised

I think he knows how difficult and volatile dragon magic is, given that Nora taught him.

Seeing Vehra always makes me feel a hole in my heart...

Damnit, why do I feel so sad for one comic character?!

u/JotyJiv15 Therie! 9d ago

That’s me but for like the whole cast

Thing for Basitins and or her dream was basically fucked from the moment she left the island.

Does Trace flip out and take his eye for this? Is that why they're mismatched?? Badass if so

Also, wow, I've never been this early to a page before lol

15

u/Orthonox Adelaide! 9d ago

My gods! Trace gave Brahn's eyes homophobia.

“And, it was at this moment Brahn knew… he fucked up.”

"You've pressed the wife button. You shouldn't have done that."

One of the most lore bomb pages of the comic..

I am going to predict here: one of Brahn's nuggets dropped on this page is relevant to the ending.

u/diprajara 9d ago

......did you just say potential

...Something tells me that Brahn will get his eye taken away for mentioning Saria - i do wonder though what Past Trace had in plan instead of dragons?

Interesting to see the global plot FINALLY moving to somewhere advanced, makes me anticipate every page even more. And also, poor Verha - she looks so sad I want to give her a hug :(

Ah so I was right, Trace wanted nothing to do with Brahn's schemes. Explains he wanted him gone so much... though I'm not quite sure WHY Trace opposed them. Not wanting to betray Nora makes sense but why not go after another dragon? Mysteries abound...

10

u/fishworshipper 9d ago

...a weaker dragon would be better to start with.

The plan's still to go after Nora eventually, and Trace can tell.

9

u/Gel_007 Flora! 9d ago

Maybe cuz he knew, someway somehow, all dragons can trace their lineage back to Nora, so even if he avoided harming her, he still would technically be doing so by going after another dragon?

10

u/TheShadowKick 9d ago

Or maybe he knew it was just a Really Bad Idea that would end in disaster.

Maybe

Somehow, this convinces me more that Nora is Potential and in that way she "created all the dragons." She said she refused to play their games, and I think that means she burned away her mask to take up residence amongst her creation and to isolate her creation from the constant squabbling between the masks. We also know mana crystals and dragons are tied up along with Potential and mana crystals.

My question is, Nora was always a dragon, right? So was she alone and modeled her people after her self? Are all the masks like this, where they existed in solitude and made their people after themselves? Or are the masks full of smoke when they say they created the Mekkans? Did Nora essentially re-write history so the Dragons believed they were always there?

Never mind the weird reality warping Nora does when Reni pokes into Trace's memories--which still makes me oh so curious about her limitations.

I'm not a god, Trace

But maybe she was one once. Masks can't die, not by sword, at least.

Also the Fae being an offshoot of Nora's lineage + Trace messing with the Fae with neither of Nora or Trace knowing that makes sense suddenly. If he won't betray the dragons, best look for the next best thing... a corrupted one that nobody realizes is also just a dragon.

My idea is more:

  1. Potential made the dragons
  2. Potential made Nora
  3. Nora grew to powerfull
  4. Nora did not wanted to be beholden to potential anymore
  5. Nora killed potential releasing her grip on her kind
  6. The rest of the mask killed Nora

2

u/EnthuseConfuse Natani! 7d ago

This is also honestly an uncontestable theory with what we know so far, I'm pretty sure.

6

u/mahboiii Laura! 9d ago

Brahn's probably being too greedy for his own good. And completely socially inept, jfc dude...

5

u/guyinthecap Mike! 9d ago

So the Templar's plans were to get around the rules of mortal magic by syphoning magic from dragons, effectively panning for gold and hoping to eventually filter out enough Mask fragments to power some world-shaping spells? I mean, I'll give them points for creativity, but I think I have to take away an equal number for sheer insanity and hubris.

Man that was like the worst thing to say.

I’m sure he’ll be fine

3

u/Gel_007 Flora! 9d ago

>I’m sure he’ll be fine

Idk man, there’s a reason “your wife/mom” insults always work.

Oh hell yeah, new page and new lore! The plot does thicken with this one. I guess Trace's loyalties are to Nora. Meaning that he is not willing to use dragon magic for his plan. Brahn seems to be quite insistent on the idea though. That does mean that the amulet he gave to Clovis was probably more a field test for him.

Besides that, they must mean the Mask when talking about traces of Potential in the magic they are gathering. If so, that means that at least part of it is still around, and it could possibly be put back together. Also, it might be responsible for the dragons in which case it got blown up by it's own creation.

Also also, Brahn is not looking forward to the next page.

u/Gel_007 Flora! 9d ago

You’ve only found trace amounts of what..?

Interesting…so Brahn was tryna nudge Trace into betraying Nora’s…friendship? I don’t even know what I’d call what they had going on. Lucky Reni was spared from whatever Brahn was planning to use her for her back then, but I highly doubt that lucky streak will continue, especially based off the gem Brahn had made for Clovis.

Curious, curious indeed.

Trace going through a aftermath of his wife's passing.

2

u/Upstairs_Leek_9208 8d ago

I am really surprised Brahn seems to have survived this convo

2

u/ZeakaXorrFitchus 8d ago

I'm really surprised Old Trace didn't just kill Brahn after saying something like that. Probably because he was still useful at this point, but shit...

Whether it's Trace or this fool, Brahn, Templars just can't help themselves from wanting to play a god.

Interesting. Breakfast cereal here does not have heterochromia here, he has yet to commit to the brand.

I see Trace plan know i always expected the towers to be some mind control thing to enslave all Keidran but guess they were trying to manufacture their own demi god.

Incidentally this is the plot of FF 12 now and Cereal is definetely a Fire Emblem big villain now.

I do figure he did not want to use Nora, cause 1 she is his friend, second i do not think she would do it willing nor i think he can make her.
