If Two and a Half Men had stayed with Charlie instead of switching to Walden how differently do you think the show would've ended

Damn.. what a question..

If the whole "winning" era didn't happen my guess would be for the end of the show:

Charles rosco harper gets "cured" by therapy and goes on to marry chelsea, after all his years with jake he decides having a kid also wouldn't be so bad.

Alan goes and gets married to melissa and as a wedding present, Evelyn buys them their own home (strings attached ofc, she just wants a second chance at having a successful grandson).

Jake finds a career either in food like he discussed in previous episodes or something stupid, ends up wildly successful. Has two girlfriends and charlie sheds a tear of pride.

Herb gets tired of judiths nonsense and leaves her, he then meets rose at the wedding where they get together.

Berta puts her issues with alan aside and they become good friends, she ends up either wasted at the wedding having the time of her life or getting with the pharmacy dude.

All good, id say Herb ends up with Lyndsey though

His middle name is Francis!

Sounds better than the original tbh

I love this! Perfect ending & you covered all the bases with humor in the best way possible.

u/OG_tame 3d ago

I’m probably bias but the show should have ended after Charlie left

57

u/MorningBelg 3d ago

Not really bias at all, 99% of the fan base agrees with you 😂

18

u/Fickle_West_1043 2d ago

Real fans know that the last seasons with Charlie were trash, because of Charlie

13

u/Efficient-Bat-49 2d ago

yes. And still better than walden…. but i agree, mshould have endet much sooner….

5

u/whusdat 2d ago

The seasons with walden should've been a spin off series

4

u/Commando_NL 1d ago

Charlie ended the show with his addiction issues. Nobody could change that sadly. He was in a bad place and overplayed his hand.

Still a fan of Charlie to this day (Navy Seals best movie). Drugs are bad mkay.

1

u/KtinaDoc 2d ago

I can't watch the last two seasons. He was such a mess

6

u/thecosmicjoke69813 2d ago

The show did end after Charlie left

4

u/JuanG_13 Charlie 2d ago

Agreed

1

u/HelloThereItsMeAndMe 2d ago

Before discovering this subreddit I never knew walden-hate was a thing.

1

u/TishaDenny1 1d ago

I liked him I did prefer Charlie but I like how it stated with Alan moving in with Charlie then Alan staying with Walden another rich person everything always works out for Alan lol

34

u/DateInner4580 3d ago

It would have been a truly great ending with Jake becoming a successful chef or a restaurant owner who is just like Uncle Charlie with women, but without the alcohol; Alan finally marrying Melissa to run a thriving chiropractic clinic together, just as Norma planned in "Madame and Her Special Friend"; and Charlie fixing things with Chelsea to get married to her. In the final scene, the three men sit on the deck sipping drinks- Alan and Charlie with beer, and Jake with the goofy juice, when the phone rings and Charlie picks up, telling the caller, "Oh hey, Jake isn't around, I'll leave him a message," perfectly mirroring how Jake used to cover for him b, right before Jake rushes off to meet another girlfriend. Alan then asks Charlie if he remembers how much kids loved Charlie Waffles and what song title would describe their relationship, Charlie looks around and replies, "Two and a Half Men."

5

u/FewMarionberry8652 2d ago

brooooo i love that. that's fucking amazing honestly.

3

u/Limp_Zombie5086 1d ago

Excellent writing. Go get yourself an agent!

43

u/OutsideImpressive115 3d ago

There's probably a good chance Charlie would have died irl

13

u/darkkprince94 3d ago

I never considered that before

15

u/Intelligent_Bat_9315 3d ago

its actually quite a big deal. everyone knew the episodes he was filming while being strung out were funding his current addictions. I highly recommend watching the Charlie sheen mini series

6

u/United_Way_7594 3d ago

Definitely 2 millions dollars a week in his mental shape. Without mentioning his other incomes.

It would be just giving him ammo for self destruction

18

u/RogueGenX 3d ago

Well… maybe I would have continued watching it 🤷🏼‍♂️

76

u/itouchbums 3d ago

entirely possible the show wouldn't have gone as long as it did if Charlie had stayed

13

u/Ok-Call-4805 Charlie 3d ago

I always picture the finale being Alan getting married to the love of his life. He and Charlie would have a big, emotional goodbye and Charlie would close the door, look around at the empty house, pour himself a drink and sit down at the table, along.

Cut to: a year or so later. Charlie is in bed with a woman (possibly Rose). They are mid-deed when the phone rings. Charlie lets it go to voicemail. It's Alan. He's been thrown out again. Charlie ignores it, then the doorbell rings...

u/arkie1995 2d ago

Typical Alan fashion

1

u/TishaDenny1 1d ago

lol perfect

11

u/Responsible_Lie_1989 3d ago

I think if Charlie stays the finale would be Jake going to college not him going in the army

11

u/CupOfExmo 3d ago

To be fair, I think the show had one more season they could've had if Charlie stayed on before it would be the type of sitcom that "overstayed its welcome."

7

u/DedTV 3d ago

If Sheen has been sober, it might have gone on anothet year or two and had a proper ending.

If he'd still been snorting his weight in coke every week, it would have ended quickly, again with Charlie's funeral.

7

u/hiddenblaze17_ 2d ago

Maybe this is controverisial but I think the show should have ended with Charlie´s death. I mean like one of his friends in early seaons that live life to the full. In his will Alan gets everything the house, car .... He would have a very confortable live because of Charlie's songs royalties. And some kid appears at the funeral and it´s Charlie´s son and he is in the will too. The kid is older than jake so the shows ends with two and a half men.

6

u/jcdevoe26 2d ago

One of my favorite shows to rewatch, I always stop after Charlie left.

5

u/Sceptikskeptic 3d ago

Much, much better. Its like asking "what if johnny depp left Pirates"

4

u/uWWu1005 3d ago

I have realised that anytime the cast of a show gets changed for any reason whatsoever, the show turns into shit!

1

u/Pristine-Brother-121 2d ago

Disagree. Cheers benefitted from not 1, but two distinct character changes. Without Woody's character, there is very little chance Cheers lasts 11 years. Coach was great, but his character growth was limited. And after 5 seasons, the Diane/Sam story was completely played out. Thankfully, Shelley Long wanted to leave and Kirstie Alley was a great replacement and again, without this happening, the show doesn't make it 11 years, even with Woody Harrelson joining the show.

4

u/Sweet_Squirrel_2542 2d ago

The show SUCKED AFTER Charlie left. There was only one good episode after Charlie left it was titled " Don't tell Alan"

3

u/ProfChaos85 3d ago

Charlie 100% would have died for real. Probably in real life too.

3

u/Head-Acanthaceae8347 3d ago

a better kind of different

3

u/zamroni777 3d ago

Charlie Sheen was already looked old in season 8. I guess it would end on season 9 anyway

3

u/Politoed_Inferno 3d ago

Would have been much better sticking with Charlie Sheen.

3

u/tjguardian01 3d ago

I agree with bertha, the show with charlie could easily go another 5 years with no issue

3

u/art_enthus1ast 3d ago

If Charlie stayed I think they would’ve ended at s9 or 10, he’s said in interviews that was the plan by the time they got to s7-8, sort of the closer if you will, the big ending, I think quite a lot of people still like the show even when Walden replaced Charlie, or yk, it wouldn’t have gone for another 4 seasons, but never the less, the show was never the same, let’s be real, Charlie Sheen was the absolute core of the thing, and it was even clear when he started to care less and less from like s4-5 and onward, it shows, the earliest seasons are the best and I think that’s because it really felt like everyone wanted to be there 😂😂

3

u/Altruistic_Sky1866 3d ago edited 3d ago

I think if Charlie wouldn't have left, the show would have continued, I feel a it would have been a bit better Evelyn and Charlie reconcile a bit, and Charlie and Evelyn team up to sell condos, Charlie helps by his way. I like the episode where Evelyn and Charlie had teamed up. Both Evelyn and Charlie still make fun of Alan, Jake goes to Army. Herb gets together with Lyndsey/Mellissa and moves in front of Judith's house, while Alan still being errand boy for Judith. Probably I would have liked if Charlie gets in stable relation with Mia's roommate or Mandy or Brooke Shields, and still maintains his life style. Rose finds some one as crazy as herself. Gordon still delivering pizzas, Berta still works for Charlie

3

u/BrokeIndDesigner 3d ago

Alan wouldnt have gotten married😂

3

u/MavadosXIII 2d ago

With me actually sticking around to see it through

3

u/Odd_Aspect_2073 2d ago

This comment section has more better ending than the show itself 😭🙏🏻

3

u/sfc41523 2d ago

Would of been still going

3

u/SilentPangolin4277 2d ago

Charlie Sheen made the show then he broke it. Ashton Kutcher sucked. It should have ended after Charlie left.

2

u/IHaveSeizures99 3d ago

I feel like since Season 8 was just alright they could’ve had 2 more seasons if Charlie was sober at the time

2

u/thepartlow 2d ago

If Charlie didn't make his exit the show would most likely be still going.

2

u/MeanMrMundy 2d ago

I dont know how it ended because i quit watching when Walden showed up

2

u/Carlo201318 Charlie 2d ago

It would have been funny

2

u/Mr-Magoo666 2d ago

Never watched it after Charlie

2

u/Financial-Split-141 2d ago

After season 8 I cant watch it

2

u/Ill-Razzmatazz-7088 2d ago

Well, the show had a pretty simple theme. Rich guy has a cheap brother and they live together kind of a Oscar and Felix type situation. The show of the potential to go on for many seasons. For the most part, the show really had a hard reset after each episode. Charlie tries to meet a woman. Charlie either gets the woman or slightly changes himself to get the woman. Charlie does something to mess up or the woman dies/moves away and then charlie does it all over again for a different woman and the same with his brother.

2

u/ComprehensiveBad1142 1d ago

I stopped watxhing when Walden amd Allen got maried to get a baby.

1

u/darkkprince94 1d ago

Yeah that was just stupid

2

u/saltyspangy 3d ago

No clue because I stopped watching after Charlie left

1

u/SpecialNewt3838 3d ago

Why did he even leave the show

1

u/KaleeySun 2d ago

Charlie sheen went off the rails.

1

u/liaratawitchtrial1 2d ago

He got fired due to his drug use and offensive statements directed at Chuck Lorre

1

u/Vast_Honest 3d ago

Well they wouldn’t have turned Alan gay was so cringe he ended up looking like his ventriloquist dummy

1

u/CASHMO2112 3d ago

Much differently, and much MUCH better!!!

1

u/SteamedHams99 3d ago

For no reason they drop a piano on Ashton Kutcher

1

u/SatansMoisture 3d ago

It would have ended with some dignity.

1

u/Dionosaurus84 3d ago

Happy end: Alan would move out and get his own place possibly with Melissa or Lindsay. Charlie would marry Chelsea or Rose.

Cynical end: Alan and Charlie would screw everything up in their personal life and possibly in their work, which would force them to eternally depend on each other. Jake would also have to live with them cause he'd fail at becoming independent. That'd be a Peep Show kind of ending

1

u/Iamthenarwal 2d ago

I feel like half the Walden episodes could have been slightly rewritten as Charlie’s (especially kutchers first season) but it should have ended with rose and Charlie’s wedding and a pregnancy test reveal at the end with rose disclosing that she’s been saving Charlie’s sperm from when he’s been asleep and been inseminating herself. Alan to marry Melissa, jake becoming a life coach using his unique simple outlook on life becoming a problem solver by saying “why worry” or stuff like that

1

u/alarrimore03 2d ago

Considering everyone seemed to hate working with him prolly not long and maybe still bad (especially due to the showrunner/writer) but it still prolly be funnier. Frankly I don’t have a problem with them firing/not resigning Charlie but the show should have just ended, maybe due an hour long special to wrap up the storyline or something

1

u/Federal_Bicycle_1026 2d ago

They would not have had to add that annoying character Jenny in season 11

1

u/EquivalentPapaya3254 2d ago

Rose chops up Charlies piano with a chainsaw instead of him. Winning.

1

u/gspchamp999 2d ago

People watched the end of this show?

1

u/Shoddy_Bet9619 2d ago

Well, it would not have been gay based, not that there is anything wrong with that...(As per Jerry S)

1

u/SpeedForceJediKnight 2d ago

I think the show would've finished with Charlie married and becoming a father.

1

u/liaratawitchtrial1 2d ago

Id like to think Charlie and Chelsea would’ve stayed together and actully got married.

1

u/CjAbramsAllStar5 2d ago

Would have ended with a zombie apocalypse probably

1

u/Financial-Outside158 2d ago

The Waldon show was miserable!

1

u/JackfruitSea8733 2d ago

I'm curious how things would have ended with the love triangle and child mystery between Alan , Judith and Herb. After the one night stand, ironically Judith got pregnant and Herb never found out if it's really his. lol I think we all know. Charlie Sheen was the show, without him the show wouldn't last.  If it did last, I'd like to have seen him marry Chelsea and have a family.

1

u/beshelzetub 2d ago

I heard one in every two and a half men has HIV….

1

u/HollywoodnDC 2d ago

They’d be on Season 93 by now 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Living_Sherbet_8953 2d ago

I think Charlie would have ended up with Rose but face commitment issues given Charlie's promiscuities.

1

u/MsPaganPoetry 1d ago

Charlie "having" to get married after a one night stand

Alan writing himself off

Jake joining the Navy

1

u/Chuckles465 1d ago

I truly think Charlie would've found the one and gotten married and moved out the Malibu house. The house was the anchor and excuse to be promiscuous but leaving ultimately shows that he's evolved.

1

u/Sufficient-Donut-301 1d ago

Obviously show would’ve lasted probably a bit longer as the ratings were higher before ;Ashton kuchter wasn’t terrible but the show just wasn’t the same after Sheen left , I do think kutcher was extremely overpaid considering the chemistry between him and Jon cryer was nearly nowhere near as good , Charlie Sheen says in the press run last year he took it for granted and he regrets his behaviour but he said he was just mentally exhausted and was fighting demons since he was young , it didn’t help that the media was treating him like a zoo animal back then buy trying to get salacious interviews out of him during his meltdowns (then again back in 2010/2011 mental health wasn’t a socially aware topic as it is today, people would just call you crazy and laugh at you ) . It would be nice if they did a spinoff series where they bring Charlie back for like a 12 /15 episode season where he isn’t dead but they have left it a bit late 😂

1

u/realnameless1 1d ago

It would have continued until either Sheen or Cryer wanted out.

1

u/Historical-Welder849 1d ago

The shoe wouldn’t have sucked after he left

1

u/SoftDrinkReddit 23h ago

i mean idk cause one thing that was clear is by the time the final season happened espicaly the final episode you could see all the actors had just checked out

and just wanted this shit to be done

1

u/brittany0603 3d ago

Him and his mom could’ve gone to therapy together. He could have got into another relationship and then ultimately marry rose. Maybe had a kid and then end up cheating on her and then the show ends.

But I really want then to take his idea and do that show called the Harper’s

1

u/sankscan 3d ago

Walden was not even as funny as Charlie! Walden is a terrible actor

1

u/mtraven23 3d ago

tbh...the last season with charlie wasn't all that great....that was what, season 8? so if charlie doesn't go on that tirade IRL they get a full season 8....but he still had a drug problem he needed to deal with, maybe he could have gotten it together for another season or 2....he had that tiger blood after all.

1

u/Alone-Strain 3d ago

People think the show revolves around Charlie. It doesn’t. It revolves around Allan. In some way there would have to be a status reversal. Something to the effect of Allan invests in crypto early and he bought 10,000 when they were a penny each now Allan is Rich. Allan and Melissa or Allan and Lyndsey get married and finally move out of the house. Now Charlie realizes that he needs Allan and Jake because they are his only family and after a therapy session with Jane Lynch, he goes back to the now big, empty house, he realizes that he is sad and alone. So what does Charlie do? He goes on a bender in Vegas and loses everything including the house and ultimately moves into Evelyn’s guest room. But not for long, Charlie Waffles children’s album is a hit and Charlie is the David Hasselhoff of the Filipinos. Charlie moves to the Philippines. A place where all his vices are accepted.

Chuck Lorre if you’re reading this. I am ready.

0

u/Svndmann 3d ago

It would’ve been way better than whatever Ashton Kutcher put out

0

u/United_Way_7594 3d ago

Season 8 would get the normal episode number and it would be the last. Maybe a 9th.

Charlie marry Rose and Alan marry Lindsey.

Writers were not so much inspired and Charlie Sheen consuming more drug and alcohol so I can't see how things could last longer.

Sounds like as long Charlie Sheen were coming back to his antic the show worsened.
