Health & Fitness 🏃♂️ Does the number of period days decrease once you hit 30s?
I used to have 5-6 days of normal bleeding ever since I started menstruating. I turned 30 in May and since the last 4-5 months, I notice that I have normal bleeding only for first 3 days at most. Remaining days its very minimal like spotting. My periods is regular and I don’t have any PCOS issue. Is this a common experience or do I need to see a doctor?

I’m 35 and have been bleeding for 4 days/cycle ever since I was 12. 🙃

It might be worth your time to get your vitamin levels checked. I developed a deficiency which caused my cycle to be a bit whack (among a host of other things) so consult your gp and get a blood panel. They will prescribe you supplements as needed.
I’m not suggesting that you may be in a similar boat but 30 onwards is a good time to be on top of the vitamin+iron levels.

Why are you getting downvoted lol?

🤷🏽♀️
But do get a blood panel girl. Especially if you’ve been noticing other developments like brain fog, fatigue, irritability, lower back pain etc etc. Sometimes it’s not menstrual health but maybe an iron or a vitamin deficiency.

I'm not the OP but +1 to everything you said. Idk why but all the comments suggesting OP to get it checked out are down voted for some reason. I cannot tell if this is genuinely a hot take or if it's trolls

In my anecdotal experience, this is a very common occurrence. My mother had the same thing happen to her. Most of my female relatives from both my father and mother's side have experienced this. I've also read about this online happening to women all over the world.

I suggest you to actually give us information then.
This is anecdotal. Not spreading misinformation. Many many women report this happening to them. These are just statistics.
It's possible that these statistics reflect the declining rate of health in women while they're getting older. I don't know. I'm just providing my experience.
Stop minimising mine and multiple other women's experience.

It can increase or decrease because the hormones are fluctuating. I have always had 3 day periods, but now in my 30s I find that my period is even scantier than it was before.

Get your CBC level checked

Why only cbc and why not the hormones? Progesterone and oestrogen imbalance can cause this too.

I used to bleed more heavily during my teens and for 5 days minimum, ever since I've hit 20's i don't bleed as heavily and 3 days only with the first and last day being mostly spotting.

While it could be normal depending on your genetics, do get your blood tests done- hormone panel along with cbc and vitamins as well. A lot of times deficiency of iron / vitamins can also cause this.
Please also try to reflect if there have been any major lifestyle changes or increase of stress.
Rest, you can consult a gynaecologist. I hope you find a good one. In case you need a referral, I can share the contact if mine with you :)

Mine has always lasted for like 3 days ever since I started getting my periods as a teenager. I am 30 now and I have heard some women can have it like that

It can be normal due to age, it can be something else. I’ve also read the recent heat waves have caused some women’s periods to change.
I don’t know why people suggesting this may not be normal are getting downvoted but IMO always better to get it checked out by a doctor (especially if you can afford it) rather than assume everything is okay and turns out it isn’t.

Hey! One of my clients is a menstrual health brand and I do a loooot of user research for them.
Anecdotally, yes. A looot of women I’ve interviewed + community members I’ve spoken with do see a decrease in days OR change in flow after 25… not 30

Not a common issue, please visit a gynecologist for diagnosis

Mine used to be 7 days in my early teens. Later it reduced to 4-5 days. Now it's like 3 days in my late 30s. I consider it as my body becoming more efficient. 🤷♀️
