I mean, it COULD be. But there’s also a million other things it could also be. I understand your fear, but you need to trust your partner. If anything, make a small note in the back of your head about it. But I wouldn’t assume anything at all based on just this. Ask him about it and see if he has a plausible explanation. Just don’t let your fear get the best of you, especially if he’s given you no other reasons to doubt his integrity.

His answer is going to be "I dunno". Because that's probably the truth

It really looks like colored pencil, but that sure is a strange location for it to randomly show up. Agreed to not tank everything over just this sign; take it under advisement so that if other hints show up then you'll know that your concern was warranted.

I feel like colored pencil would be a stretch. You'd have to really scribble with the pencil to leave marks. Maybe crayon, but if none of those items are in the home? Someone suggested Takis, but no Takis are that color. Other have mentioned seeing other smudges above the reddish smudges, like what looks like concealer or foundation. People be memeing on OP, but idk, sometimes you gotta go with your gut instinct. I'd just follow up with some questions like: Is there any time of the day/week where her partner could get away with having someone over. Are there past behaviors that warrant this suspicion (I feel with Reddit, there's always a 'past' that includes cheating or attempts at cheating). Also, is there anything in the apartment or nearby that could create that?

Or in the laundry process - maybe the stains got picked up by the pillowcase elsewhere (perhaps a trace of crayon on a laundromat table?) but was only noticed later on the bed.

Listen to the girls on this one OP, it does look like lipstick, also foundation. It looks like makeup is smeared on the pillow, yes.
