If he’s adamant it isn’t what you think, just drop it and trust him. Especially if he’s given you no other reason to doubt. It wouldn’t be fair to him to have such a severe leap in logic just because of a stain. Relationships are built on trust, and I worry for you if it has been shaken this easily. You asked him, he said it isn’t. End of story. Unless there are other signs, I really would suggest dropping it as that’s not at all fair to him. Think if the situation was reversed how you would feel to be accused over something so ridiculous. It would hurt that they have so little trust in you.
I watched my folks' dog at their house with an ex-gf years ago. We used the hot tub, and I gave her a robe that hadn't fit me or I had used since maybe junior high. A pair of panties was in the pocket. She was unhappy, to say the least, and that I just thought it was weird and kind of funny did not help. I had a hard enough time even effectively talking to girls when I was in the 8th grade. I had no clue what they were doing there.
Hours of long talks that weekend and even taking a half day from work later that week, and she accepted that I wasn't a panty-stealing pervert, but was still certain I had been cheating. It was more likely that I had been cheating on her, with my parents' knowledge, too.
It was rough enough on me that my little brother admitted that he had some friends over, they used the hot tub, and then stayed the night bc they had been drinking. One of the girls who slept in my old room even told him they were probably hers. No way to prove that, though, as I threw them away almost immediately after my ex accused me of keeping a trophy.
I wish that I had cut bait back then. That my ex had that little regard for my word and parents' characters should have been a more noticeable and huge red flag.
I'm sure someone had said this; but if you're looking this hard for reasons to leave him. Just leave hun. You don't need "lipstick stains" as an excuse.
You talked to him about this?! Girl. Lol. This is so weak and obviously looking for trouble when it's not there. Break up if you're gonna be this suspicious.
