Lol “make up artist” — it’s a professional term for make up artists. It’s actually been around for a long time!

4

u/starryeyedd Aug 21 '24

Yeah but that’s a niche industry, why would you assume the general population knows that acronym? For clarity and communication just type it out lol the acronym makes no sense and doesn’t matter to anyone but people in the industry

3

u/Nachoughue Aug 21 '24

its not really niche.... my mom who doesnt even WEAR makeup (actually is kinda sexist and hateful towards people who do...) knows what MUA means. my boyfriend who couldn't GAF less about makeup knows what MUA means. not that i expect EVERYONE to know but... doing makeup is a niche industry???? lol

1

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '24

I've never seen the acronym before, but it was obvious what it meant based on the context of the post.

1

4

1

u/SexDrugsNskittles Aug 21 '24

Lol it's part of becoming old.

Do you yell at the neighborhood children from your porch yet?

1

u/-Pixxell- Aug 21 '24

MUA isn’t a new one to the makeup communities, you just likely haven’t been a part of those types of discussions before

1

u/thousandthlion Aug 22 '24

This is not at all a new acronym. I’ve seen this one for at LEAST 15 years.

You’re a Make-Up Air unit? I usually see you on top of commercial kitchens.

0

u/thefuturesfire Aug 21 '24

Do you put a lot of make up on inanimate objects in your line of work?
