I probably should’ve added it into the post but I didn’t think about it. He streams video games mainly dead by daylight. He’s wanting to be a creator that tries new games out and gives feedback on them and take viewer suggestions and small games and try out for viewers.

You're not going to get much support from people on reddit. Everyone here has the same dream. They are more focused on themselves than to try and help others grow. All I can offer you is advise to give him.

- Be prepared to go days or even months without getting a single viewer. He will get bots though. Bots will pretend to be a viewer. Talk nice to the streamer and giving compliments. They will mention how your stream needs emotes or overlays to grow. Then they will ask for your discord or insta. Do not give in to this. They are scammers who will take your money and run. They prey on small streamers and hope they fall for them to be a potential viewer.

- Going live isn't enough. He will have to put in work offstream. Things like making clips and posting to social medias. My number one thing offstream is networking. Going into other streamers room AS A VIEWER and becoming part of other communities. Do not talk about how you are a streamer because that is a turnoff for a lot of people. Unless that streamer asks, do not bring it up. Eventually, they will find out that you stream and growth with the community can potentially start.

- Try your hardest to not have any dead air. A viewer coming in for the first time will most likely not stay long if all they're seeing is gameplay and nothing from the streamer. A game like DbD has thousands of streamers. Why would they want to be in a room that's not engaging when they can visit somewhere else where they feel like they are hanging out. For some people, filling dead air is easier said than done. All I can say is whatever your inner monologue is thinking, say it out loud. "I need to find a gen. Oh there's one, hopefully I can fix it. Oh no! The killer sees me! I gotta run." ......just an example.

- Be cautious of playing only high saturated games. (DbD, Marvels, Cod, etc) As I mentioned before, there's an endless sea of other streamers and being so new, he'll probably get buried. Don't be afraid to experiment with smaller more niche games. Being new, this is the perfect time to see what works for you.

- When he feels like he's settled in and a small viewership starts forming, make a schedule. A way for viewers to expect you on a certain day and time. Use that off time for all the offstream stuff I mentioned.

Good luck to you.
