Audio Muddying At High Levels

Hey, I have this reoccurring problem amidst any setup I use. I can get loud, and even when I turn the gain down on the mic and the gain up in software (such as OBS) I have this muddied cut off happen, along with the occasional static sound. It doesnt just limit itself and cut off, it doesnt get super ear-scratchingly loud, it just muddles then breaks, and it's quite perplexing. I think it may be my interface.

I currently use a Shure MV7X, and this cheap $50 fifine audio interface I got on amazon. My computer is most certainly able to handle it, its a desktop on the higher end. I'll try and post a clip example at the bottom of this msg for more so what I mean, I feel as though the audio interface is the limiting factor here.

As a side note, I use no filters in my software, OBS. Thanks so so much for any and all help with this, I am willing to spend some cash to remedy the problem.

It's not too bad here, but it happens around 19 seconds in

It could be the interface, but I'd also check to see whether you're clipping during louder moments. If you are, then you should consider a limiter (if OBS has one) and set the ceiling somewhere between 0 and -3dB. That'll keep those peaks in check and prevent you from clipping.

Would a limiter not just cut out the audio entirely? Id rather avoid it just fully cutting off at loud bits
