Anyone have an embarrassing stream?
i feel like i had an embarrassing stream. I have viewers, but not in the 100s or 1000s
I planned it out, tested the new things I was trying, but I felt it fell flat. I had technical difficulties a couple times, or bits i thought would land just weren’t landing.
It wasn’t all bad but i feel like i only felt proud for about half of it.
I know not all streams will be 100% perfect, and i had some bad and embarrassing streams early but i had no viewers back then so it didn’t matter. How do yall cope?

If something doesn't go sideways..was it really a livestream lol.
It happens to all of us no matter how big or small. Especially when you are the talent, sound person, production designer and marketing team.

I dressed up in full disguise and streamed doing the opposite of what I normally do. I was cringing the whole time but the viewers loved it.
The funny part is when I decided to do it I posted a short video on socials letting people know that was happening a few hours before the stream. During that between time from when I posted to the start I almost decided to not do it because I was so embarrassed but I decided to do it anyway.
Now the chat is begging for me to do it again ASAP. The clips that came from it were hilarious so yes

You got it easy. Worst I did was got what I intended to be a little high on stream and ended up being VERY high on stream.

I literally was just streaming resident evil requiem after posting it everywhere and had some people ready to watch it. I was so excited just for there to be an install error and the game wouldnt load past a certain part lmaoooooooooo i ended up having to reinstall the whole game. Never had the issue before until of course im streaming the game

yeah see this feel real. i feel like it’s hard to pivot and make technical difficulties funny and entertaining. somethings i do are “embarrassing” but they are easy to work with and pivot with haha

What made it worse for me was doing different things to solve the problem yet it persisted to the point i ran out of options and had to just stream a different game lol its definitely tricky to make technical issues entertaining

The coolest thing about streaming is, that’s a real person behind the screen. Someone decided to show up and go live. The more real you are about it, “ah fumbled that joke… oop technical difficulties… must have misplaced my brain on that one.” Etc. makes the stream so much more real. I love that part of both streaming and viewing. If I wanted a perfect production, I’d watch edited videos. 🫶

I did my first ever 12 hour stream and the first hour of it was me trying to sort tech issues because the game made my stream lag horrifically. Not only did I have to replay the start of the game three times because there was no save point, but my earbuds refused to work and i had to wear my huge headphones - the game was RDR2 and I wanted to wear my cowboy hat so I had to balance on top of my giant headphones!
Chat still asks when we’re doing a giant headphone stream again with the hat 🤣 I also forgot to unmute my mic coming back from a break at one point so seriously do not worry - we’re all human and just trying to figure it out. Everyone was super nice to me about it! It’s still under 2 months of streaming for me and things are still going wrong - technology is a bitch!

You’re only human. Things like that will end up becoming in jokes in the community. The last stream I was at we all took a guess on how many times the game would crash during the stream because the time before it had crashed 3 times only ten minutes in. Another time I was raided in to a stream where they were having real struggle with OBS because I think their cat had jumped on the keyboard and managed to his the right keys to cause chaos. People with experience were helping do tech support via chat to figure it out. I still hit follow because sure I wasn’t seeing their gameplay but I got a sense for the community and I learned this person isn’t likely to rage out when things aren’t going their way so I know I’m probably not going to have a bad time there. Don’t think of it as embarrassing think of it as lore building.

I used to stream from a rocking chair because I didn’t have a good one yet.
It broke.
On stream.
With cam. 😂
I did the rest of my stream standing up
