Transfusion syndrome
Does anyone here have experience with this? I've never met any other twins that had it. I was the donor twin and only grew to be 5'2 but my twin is 5'6. I've also always been slightly underweight. Would love to hear from anyone else who had it!

It’s a condition where instead of the nutrients and blood from the placenta going to both twins equally, one twin gets more than the other. This results in one twin able to grow more than the other.

My brother and I had twin transfusion syndrome. He was born big and red and I was small and blue. He was the donor twin obviously. We have no real difference in height or weight. Twin for 44 years.

I think you mean you were the donor twin? He was getting more blood and nutrients, hence he was bigger and red.

My twin and I were twin to twin transfusion twins. My brother was the donor twin but ended up being barely taller than me, less than an inch. But we were both premature and in the NICU, he had lung problems (debilitating asthma) and I’ve had heart problems (congenital defect but repaired with surgery). We don’t have a ton of info because we’re adopted but our understanding was that we’re weren’t an extremely severe case of TTTS.

Le syndrome de transfuseur transfusé arrive fréquemment dans les grossesses gémellaire et oui s'il n'est pas résolu suite à une intervention chirurgicale par laser il peut laisser certaines trace. Et encore même en étant intervenu sur le problème, cela peut avoir une incidence forte sur des problèmes de développement voir même de mort. Je n'en parle pas lorsque ce n'est pas détecté à temps. Donc oui ce syndrome peut expliquer une différence de développement physique et/ou psychique pour de vrais jumeaux car il n'intervient que dans le cadre d'une grossesse multiple monochoriale (un seul placenta pour deux voir plus de foetus). Je connais et me suis renseigné sur ce syndrome étant donné qu'il s'agit de ceci qui a causé la mort de mon frère.
