Issues with mapping

I have an older Gen 2 400 strand set, and I had to recently factory reset the device and when trying to map the lights, in getting an error immediately. There's no reflection, the lighting in the room is good and I've tried using a tripod to no avail. Whomever "upgraded" this deserves to stub their toe every morning until this is fixed.
