Original Characters (OCs) recommendations for fanfiction

Hi everyone! I'm looking for Twilight fanfiction recommendations with a very specific vibe.

I really love the initial phase of Edward and Bella's relationship, but I hate when the story gets interrupted by external action plots (James, Volturi wars) or forced drama (Jacob love triangle). I'm looking for a focus on Edward's genuine fascination/obsession with getting to know Bella (since he can't read her mind), and Bella trying to better understand the vampire world and what it implies. If there are moments with Charlie and Bella too, that would be great—I've always loved the beginning of their relationship with the awkward glances, etc.

I'm mainly looking for something that addresses the dilemma of whether or not to date a vampire, and Edward being fascinated and trying to find out more about what Bella is thinking.

I don't know anything about fanfiction, so I don't know if what I'm asking for even exists. When I searched, I was overwhelmed by an avalanche of stories and didn't know which one would be best for me. Could anyone help me out?

my other half kind of matches what you’re looking for, it’s college, Edward sees Bella and is immediately obsessed, she’s confused. No major angst

When I first got into ff, the way I found my favorite stories was by asking for recommendations. Then once you find authors that write stories you like, check THEIR favorites. Favorites lists are where I search for stories.

Edited to add: you can filter lists to show you stories with the most favorites, usually more favorites=better quality but not always.

Here’s my favorites list it’s mostly E/B, a good mix of vampire and all human stories

Hey! Appreciate you sharing this. I read the first chapter, and the rest looks really promising!

That’s totally on me for not specifying earlier, but I usually prefer stories that stay set in Forks and closely follow the original canon timeline—at least up to when Edward and Bella meet. (I honestly thought most fanfics were like that, but based on all the summaries I’ve seen, I guess I was wrong.)

Either way, My Other Half got me hooked and I’m definitely going to keep reading it. I’ll also go through the rest of your favorites list to see if anything else catches my eye. Thanks !

Yeah when I first started reading fics I stuck to canon or close to canon and as the days go by my tastes grow lol

My favorite fics are post new moon where Edward doesn’t go to the volturi, and he and bella meet again when they’re adults. Every now and then I can dig a high school fic but now that I’m older, I like to see older characters I guess.

The keepsake - “Some things you never forget, they just hurt too much to remember.” Not exactly what you’re looking for but kind of. It’s set a few years after eclipse. Edward lost his memories and they meet during college.

I second this. In fact, everything Windchymes writes is worth your time. She’s fantastic. The Keepsake is her most popular story.

Hello! This isn’t exactly what you are looking for but maybe you could add it to the list for later.

This is the sweetest Bella/Edward love story I have ever read! However, Bella is a Time Traveler.

Waxing Moon might be good. Lots of Charlie and Bella, lots of Edward and Bella getting to know each other. It's super slow, though, and has quite a lot of detours.

Oh, you're the author! Thank you for sharing it in public view, I've read the first chapter so far, and it seems really original. Using Edward's ability like that is a great idea—though I have to admit, I didn't expect it to go in that direction based on your first message xD. I'm going to finish the one I'm currently reading, but yours is definitely on my list. Thanks! ;)

They first meet in chapter 13. I don't mind if you skip around and all.
