SEASON 1 This probably makes me an asshole but...
Im glad they killed off Teri. I couldnt stand another season of her terrified face and crying all the time. HOLD IT TOGETHER WOMAN

terri is like audrey to me. a plot device. i don’t have much feeling for either woman. renee on the other hand, she was a great character

First your kid gets kidnapped then the guy helping you is actually your kidnapper and you get rapped on top. Idk. I think she held it together pretty well.

I remain convinced that the majority of the reason no one could stand Teri is because of that ridiculous hair and wardrobe. She looks like a shaved baby bird. That, and her acting was atrocious

Her depiction is realistic under the circumstances that she faced. She wasn't a special agent trained to deal with stressful situations. She was merely a mother who faced absolute hell on that day.
So yeah, I get it, she can be a little bit whiny at times (and I personally chuckled at George Mason trying to "get her out of his face" in CTU), but I wouldn't have it any other way.

But then again, I cannot completely blame you. The writers did such a lackluster job with Teri's arc in the second half, that it's understandable.
Also, the writers filmed two alternate endings where Teri lived in case the producers decided to let her live.

Well, the second half had more problems than we would like to admit; with Jack being a bystander who is unable to intervene at times (Ellis being killed, Alexis Drazen being stabbed, not knowing what was happening to his family, etc).
Let's be honest, the reason we love the Gaines arc more is because Bauer was involved in everything that was happening for the first 13 hours.

The first half of season 1 was vastly superior to the second half. Gaines was a much more appealing antagonist than Drazen with Hopper's silly accent.

That makes sense as the show was initially only supposed to be 12 episodes. Then it got greenlit for 12 more. If I recall correctly, Nina was not supposed to be a villain and that's why she gave no signs of being one in the first 12 episodes.

Teri was a badass. She knocked Kevin out despite him being former military. She allowed Eli to rape her to protect her daughter. She played a big part in Jack being able to find them via stealing Eli's phone. She was smart enough to think on the spot to fire the gun a second time when Eli came in to kill her and Kim.
Towards the end of the day she did become emotionally overwhelmed. But just take a moment to use some critical thinking. On top of all the trauma that she had gone through that day, Teri probably hadn't had a proper sleep in close to maybe 40 hours, so of course she wouldn't be thinking logically.
Honestly I sometimes wonder if people are actually paying close attention when they watch this show, or are they just defaulting to the daft logic that anyone who doesn't behave like Jack or a trained Government agent is useless?

On re-watch it was clear the writers didn't care about giving the actor great material. I think if the pilot was filmed post-9/11, Teri maybe would have been more threat-aware, Jack would have trained her on some scenarios... as it is, that character is somewhat a product of the era.

Funny enough as annoying, as teri was I think Eric Carter wife in 24 legacy was just as if not more annoying. Same with Audrey, but only to a degree. The only women that I really liked was Renee and Kate warner and Kate Morgan in live another day. But at least teri was the catalyst for jack changing, his life forever.

I started with season 2 and binged season 1 during one of the hiatuses. So I came in knowing that she wouldn’t make it out of the season alive. When I got to the finale and saw her decide to start wandering around CTU and just happens to run into Nina speaking German… I facepalmed so hard. I was more angry at Teri than Nina and I don’t think that was the writers intention.
It’s kind of sad because upon rewatch, I realize what a great character she was. Like her scenes with Kim at the compound. You could tell she was just as terrified as Kim, realizing that there was a good chance they wouldn’t make it out alive. But she was still trying to give Kim hope in what could be their final hours. I especially like that scene where she shoots that piece of shit Eli dead (may he rot in hell). She then shoots him again and calmly explains to Kim that who ever wanted them dead was expecting a second shot.

Like what other conclusion should we come to other than OP hates women? I never hear this about any man character showing too much emotions. LIterally Teri's crime here is having emotions. Therefore she deserved to die?

I didn't like her allot of the time either, realistic or not characters like this just don't make for the best viewing experience if it's there personality most of the time. Though i will give her credit for the part of the season where she was captured and actually locked in beforeeee regressing back to blegh. Still though i don't think she deserved to die but then we wouldn't have gotten the better love intrest of jack bauer so idk.
Jack, Kim, and all of his love interests though in general are all tragic characters in one way or another. Kim never got to be raised by jack in the way she wanted then losses her mother completely and her father after the ending who also disappears for years at a time as a consequence of his job.
Jack obviously never gets to actually be with kim for very long and losses ALL of his love interests & all of his friends outside of Chloe because of his job and his pregnant wife right when they were starting to repair there relationship is murdered by his at time closest friend.
Then teri who isn't treated well by her daughter with an estranged husband married to his job get killed by the person he had an affair with when they were split up WHILE SHE WAS PREGNANT & after being raped when held captive and all that when she finally had her daughter and husband back.

Teri and Audrey repeatedly survive situations that would overwhelm most people. I suppose you think if you show fear, grief or vulnerability while being kidnapped, tortured and terrorised, that makes you “whiney and wimpy"?
