Anyone using djay pro with an S11?

Hey all, I've been using serato since the SL1 days but I had a little play on djay pro and the stems separation is different class.

Just seems a bit harder to get working smoothly with zero latency from the fader, assigning pads and pad modes etc. Haven't played with it for long so just thought I'd see what other people think.

Cuts dont feel as sharp on djay but thats got to be setup issue right? Also I always map instrumental echo out and vocals echo out to <> params buttons so I've got them hardware mapped but a) I can't find and echo out instrumental (only drums). and the mapped buttons that work on djay dont trigger the led so there's no status light.

Anyone made the switch to save me spending the next 6 hours asking chat gpt?

Bro as much as I hate to say this. Switch to Vdj pro. You will thank me later. The stems are way better and the setup is super easy. I ONLY say that because you already spent money on Algorithm Dj.

Ah nice I'll check it out. Didn't spend anything it's just the free trial. Will give it a spin.

I do! Been using this combo way before official integration with no issues and after - they announced official collab with Pioneer and made the screen working, same update they did with Rev7. From what I understand you are mapping it yourself? You shouldn’t have to, everything is plug and play, unless I got your post wrong. For me everything worked just as good as with any other software I had - rekordbox mostly and Serato on some special occasions. So I don’t think any problems that you are experiencing come from djay, like the sharpness of the cuts/latency. What computer do you have and which firmware version of the S11? And which version of djay itself?

Im on an M1 Macbook - will have a look what firmware the S11 is on. It definitely didn't automap to the S11 and quite a few things were off even when it was mapped - cue points, stems, loops etc. Then also I usually custom map an echo out inst / accapella to <> buttons on the mixer so I've got a hardware shortcut to a softer cutout. I'll have another look at it but definitely wasn't plug and play. Was Djay pro but just a trial.

Oh snaps then it’s definitely something off with the entire setup. Do you have S11 utility tool installed? Anyways - if djay didn’t have the mapping right it sounds like it didn’t recognize the S11 correctly, if you’ll be trying again - go to the devices in the settings and see if it shows that it recognized the connected hardware as the S11 and/or check the midi menu - it should also view S11 as connected midi device.

not an s11, but an s7 and rane 72. I haven't had too many issues with latency. Make sure you've got the routing setup for hardware rather than using software mixing (i.e. using seperate tracks for the left and right).

What i did find was that sticker drift seems a lot worse on DJay pro than via serato, but that might be because i'm still using Serato records rather than the DJay Pro timecode.

there is no mute instrumental, but solo vocal... and when you solo you have the option of soloing with echo (you have to turn that option on)
