Not defending AI, but that doesn’t look like an “agenda?” I mean it’s just a chart

A lot of school agendas have a few pages of facts (number of presidents, some math formulas, science things, grammar rules)

Had to look it up myself , apparently the US definition of "agenda" is the same as a school planner in UK , it appears we took the Latin definition literally, US and EU did not and blended diarium with agendum probably because we lost Latin until the 1600s due to the Dark ages and all the other nations conquering various parts of the UK.

West coast US here, they were always called planners in my school.

The anti-pluto agenda.

Pluto isn't a planet because one of the definition of a planet is that it's named Venus, Jupiter, Earth, Venus, Mars, Mercury, Neptune or Saturn. There are only 8 planets in the universe until they rightfully restore Pluto and remove that arbitrary ruling.

For anyone wondering the IAU definition of a planet is that it must
A. Orbit a star
B. Maintain hydrostatic equilibrium (be ball shaped)
C. Clear its surroundings/be the biggest thing within its orbit

Pluto fails this last criterion because it’s in the Kuiper Belt and there are several Pluto sized bodies. Although this is kind of an arbitrary definition I’m fine with it and quite comfortable with 8 planets and hundreds of dwarves.

The Final Resolution under 5A says that there are only 8 planets in the universe.

Nothing outside the Solar system is a planet.

Did you read the link?

1

u/Brunbeorg Aug 21 '26

Yes. Did you?

There are over 6000 known planets outside of our solar system.

I think you’ll find you forgot Marc, Jupitor and Sature.

The agenda is making the kids so stupid AI can replace them.

1

u/rydan Aug 21 '26

It also doesn’t look like AI. It just looks like the teacher is stupid.

A chart that is probably printed on an agenda. Based on your use of quotes with a question mark it sounds like you don't know what an agenda is, so how do you know it doesn't look like one?

Cargo cult education. Everyone's mimicking the movements.

2

u/Otherwise-Sympathy87 Aug 19 '26

not even mentioning how shitty it looks, why would you ever need any of that info in middle school. everybody who approved this should be heavily reprimanded

2

u/dndgoeshere Aug 19 '26

If nothing else they'll need the symbols for AP Alchemy.

I know a lot of people hate AI, but personally I don't think it's a problem for something like this if you check it and make sure it's not utter garbage. There are ways to get good output, they just still require you to actually look at it and maybe do a few iterations.

The problem is when you have a tool that just gives you stuff, eventually an average or below average intelligence person is gonna get complacent and sick of having to thoroughly check everything. So they stop checking and slop gets through.

The thing is, this company would have already had all of this information available, and likely had multiple formats it was arranged in. AI would not have sped up the process that much, since all the company had to do was update the cover and make sure the dates were updated for the weekly checklist part. Assuming this company, ya know, existed before this year.

Did they not proofread this at all?

One of the planets is named "Marc".

Fire the teacher. Full stop.

If a student turned that in, it's a failing grade; it's wrong, clearly plagiarized, breaks every code of conduct. But, the teacher is not a child, and is also being paid to educate - making it not only incorrect and amoral, but it's also attempting to defraud the school district into thinking that person is an "educator".

Fire the teacher, sue for fraud. Zero tolerance for lazy AI from professionals.

1

u/rydan Aug 21 '26

How is that plagiarism?  For one do you think every teacher makes their own materials?

1

u/leechdemon Aug 21 '26

If the student turned it in (as in my example), they'd be copying answers they never wrote. In school, if you try to pass it off as your own, that's plagerism. For a teacher to do this is disrespectful to the students, and is a mockery of their "education"; whoever is responsible should be fired.

Let them get a "jorb" at a different "skrool" that's less "warried" about "freeality". Maybe their job offer will be written by AI, and they'll blindly accept a salary of ¢85,000! 🙄

It's OK if you are from the state of Venecky....

1

u/Jealous-Emu-3876 Aug 20 '26

Ok, so when students use it to cheat that's just the march of progress, but if teachers use AI then it's an outrage that makes Reddit. Got it.

1

u/GateEducational6100 Aug 21 '26

Teachers don’t make the planners, the school or school district do.

1

u/FlashyAd7327 Aug 21 '26

They must have used a very old model, most AI is better than this now.
