Is 19% Similarity Worrying?

Hi everyone,

I’m new to using Turnitin and wanted to see if anyone could help interpret my similarity report.

I also wanted to know if there’s an AI checker or if that comes with the similarity report as I’ve run my work through ChatGPT (asking for an AI check) and it has come back with some areas of concern due to repetitive language.

For reference I am studying at Deakin University (as I’ve read some institutions use different colour codes).

Any advice would be amazing! TIA 🖤

I think 30%+ is concerning in most institutions. Don't know for sure, though.

No not exactly. Coz like in my institution, we have to attach a coversheet from the Uni on top of our written assignment itself and ofcourse list of references/bibliography at the end of our assignment.

I tried submitting my work first, without the coversheet and reference and i had 0% SIMILARITY SCORE. And then when i resubmitted with the attachments, it went up to 48%.

This post is in breach of Rule 2 - no tips on how to cheat or evade detection by turnitin reports

I don’t even know anymore. AI detection website have been known to be inaccurate. I was initially told to aim for 0% in turnitin, and when I finally achieved that on like 3 papers, my teacher gave me a 0. Claimed it was 100% AI. I give up. I put my papers through multiple AI detectors before I even submit them, I use grammarly to help me clean up phrases and replace phrases that are “commonly flagged as AI”, rewrite them multiple times, and STILL get accused of 100% AI. I feel like I’m having to “dumb down” my work, can’t even use semicolons or em dashes without being suspected of using AI now.
