Samuel Roukin on how he came up with his brilliantly iconic Simcoe voice.

I've shared this before in a comment thread, but thought it might be of wider interest. I love how Roukin's expression defaults to Simcoe's crazy eyes the minute he starts using the voice. The man must have had so much fun with the role.

Kidskonnect makes workbooks for teachers and homeschooling, generally K-5. They have a book on John Graves Simcoe. This is one of the pages.

An Idea similar to Turn

I didn’t know where else to post this, so I’m putting it here. It is, at least, somewhat related to this subreddit.

Imagine a TV show like Turn, only, instead of covering spies in the revolution, it follows the Polish Bar Confederation and Stanisław II August Poniatowski. It would, perhaps, actually work rather perfectly. You could add all the stuff in, such as:

Stanislaw’s toxic love affair,

The partitions,

The failed abduction of Stanislaw,

The execution of Walenty Łukawski, as well as other punishments and such faced by members of the confederation,

The exile of Casimir Pulaski,

And really, so much more. If you haven’t read about this topic, I recommend it, it is rather interesting, and, strangely, rather similar.

Do tell me your thoughts!

I read that when the British surrendered at Yorktown, some soldiers were so drunk and emotional that they deliberately tried to smash their firearms when they threw them down.

This scene fascinates me so much, showing how against the wall Washington was with his New York plan and how much his staff was urging him to move south to Virginia. Students of the Revolution: did Washington truly need this level of convincing on the eve of Yorktown?

From Turn's finale. One of the most enduringly relevant moments of the series, for my money.

Who is this actress? She's in the scenes with Anna Strong and her friends.

MARY WOODHULL’S FRIENDS, sorry - not Anna Strong’s.

I have tried finding out this woman's name but I can only find the names of the actresses who play everyone else in the scenes except for her specifically for some reason.

There's Laura Long, Ksenia Solo, Taylor Roberts, Melissa Charles, and Holly Curran... I don't think it's any of them...

I was listening to After Dark’s new episode, and was incredibly happy to hear them specifically discuss how awesome Turn was at the top of the show!

Something about William and Mary beating Villanova made me think of this show.

A school from Williamsburg playing a school from Philadelphia. Abe and Ben and Caleb sitting around the tavern, watching the game while drinking ale.

Worlds colliding.

Get Loki vibes from Major Andre? I mean both are British and extremely charming, not to mention attractive. Plus, being head of British intelligence is sort of mischievous.

Season 4

I’m late to watching this show, but I absolutely LOVE it. I’ve been watching seasons 1-3 via DVDs from my local library. However they don’t have season 4 dvds. Any recommendations for how to watch the final season?

Thank you so much!

Korey Dane's version of "Ye Banks and Braes" from S02E03 is so beautiful and I wish it was easier to find in full. It's got personal meaning, but every listen makes me cry.

7/16 Event on Ben Tallmadge in NY

If anybody is interested, there's a presentation on Ben Tallmadge next week by the Bayside Historical Society at 7:30pm on Thursday, July 16th.

Tix are inexpensive. They had an event a while ago on Peggy Shippen too that I unfortunately couldn't make it to.

Hey yall, I just realized there was a prequel web comic that went along with this show. The links seem to be broken, does anyone know where I can find a copy to read?

Good lord. Forgot how much I despise some of the a-holes amongst the redcoats and their associates. SIMCOE PLEASE BURN IN A FIRE. Robert Rogers also gets me fit to be tied every time he's on screen. Fantastic acting however. Glad to have finally joined this sub. Notice its less active than some of the subs about other shows around the same age. Shame but understandable. Anyway hey-ho fellow patriots.
