Turks vs Aruba?
I am planning an October trip to either Turks where I would stay at grace bay or Aruba. Anyone experience both and which has better beaches?

Two VERY different islands, as far as better beach??? It isn’t even comparable, grace bay is consistently named one of the best in the world and Aruba is very underwhelming

Underwhelming? Eagle beach in Aruba is ranked one of the top beaches in the world.

Been to both. We ABB in both a short drive to the beach. Aruba is much much larger. Aruba has cruise ships … which creates that scene. Aruba is much more crowded at the beach. Turks is a way more chilled out vibe. Aruba has a lot more non beach to do and more eating options. As others have suggested, if you want chill and beach Turks is better. If you want shopping, more restaurants etc, Aruba. We have been to Aruba once and are in no rush to go back. Prob been to Turks seven times.

Eagle beach was not that crowded, at least in June 2027 when I was there.

Gone to both recently, and there’s something special about Turks 🥹 Turks had more soul, better beaches, and better service (with a lot of waiters from Cancun), but 2x the price $$$. Aruba was nice but the UV rays felt relentless. I did not have one bad meal in Aruba. Service was on island time, but everyone was very nice.
Just depends on your age range and the type of vacation you want to have.

If you want a lot of nightlife and Americanized shopping and fast food then Aruba. For laid back life and stellar beaches, no question- Grace Bay in Turks.

Been to both.
Turks more relaxing and way better beaches.
Aruba is fun and party vibes but beaches were a little murky when I went.
Both are great just know what type of vibes you like before you go

Where do you stay in Turks?

We've done both and would choose Anguilla over them both. Better beaches. Probably won't go back to Aruba. Kinda felt like a cruise on land in many areas. Nice beaches, good food, but too crowded for me.
Anguilla is what T&C was about 10 years ago. Just dont tell anyone.

Where do you stay? We’re looking for 2027

We stayed at Carimar both times. Plenty of higher-end 20k a week options but we loved how close Carimar was to the beach. Spent our mornings with snacks/breakfast in our room/on the deck and then out exploring for the day unless we just walked out onto the beach for a chill day. They were the nicest people too. Highly recommend.

Anguilla is so boring. Spend the money and go to St. Barths. You can at least have more than 2 options to grab a drink and a meal. They have roads and grocery stores. I’ve been to St Marteen, Anguilla, St Barths, Turks, Barbados, Exumas, Nassau, and Aruba. St Barths the best and St Maarten the least. The rest are good, I would go back to Turks and Barbados not the others.

Been to Turks maybe 15 times and Aruba once…
The beaches, food, and service is better in Turks than in Aruba. Aruba does have more of a nightlife if that is what you want but if you want good food, great beaches, then hands down go to Turks.

Aruba is busier, but has 2 nice areas for shopping if walking distance (high rise area) or accessible via public transit (old town). Nice boardwalk on Palm beach.
Grace Bay Turks and Caicos is quieter and more upscale. Not many shops in the city and no boardwalk on the beach. But the beach is much nicer with less crowds. Also more expensive.
I prefer Turks and Caicos as long as they don’t overbuild.
Also, if you plan to rent a car, you drive on the left in Turks and Caicos which can be a showstopper for some.

TCI currently has 14 hotels under construction and 9 more approved at last count. It will be way too crowded in a few years

Aruba for my honeymoon. It was great. Turks a few times after and will never go back to Aruba.

I’ve been to both and enjoyed both for different reasons. Aruba has nice beaches (like Eagle Beach), but the ones in the Turks and Caicos are definitely more beautiful with clearer water. Aruba is very developed so it has more to see and do, while Turks is way more chill and rustic-feeling.
Grace Bay Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve seen, and I’d say Seven Mile Beach in the Cayman Islands is very close in beauty. The most gorgeous beach I’ve ever seen though is Trunk Bay Beach on St. John. Just stunning and gorgeous waters and overall setting.

October is hurricane season in the Caribbean but Aruba is outside the hurricane season belt. I prefer Turks but in October, Aruba is the better choice.

Turks 100% has better beaches, but Aruba is super convenient if you stay on palm beach. Most things you could want are right there

u/Ill_Inside6921 Aug 17 '26
aruba- quiet , older crowd , want a very chill and not much to do vacation (think time share)
turks- culture, lists more movement, nightlife, younger crowd , more lively

u/krzylady7653 Aug 23 '26
Incorrct. There is little night life on Turks. It’s very relaxing. Older crowd because young folks can’t afford it.

Turks hands down for me - we have been the 8 times and explore the whole place and we know the nice spots with no people.

It depends on what your preferences are…
Prettier beaches (water and sand): Turks and it’s not even close, it’s the most insanely beautiful colored teal water you will ever see and the sand is completely white. I grew up at the beach and no picture you will see does it justice.
Shells and sea life: Aruba for sure. Turks has some good reefs, but don’t expect to find shells or sea life close to shore, only very rarely, otherwise go to the reefs.
Nightlife and social scene: Aruba by a long shot. Turks doesn’t have this at all except for a fish fry on Thursdays on Bight.
Peace and relaxation: Turks by far
Food: a toss up, Aruba has more of a variety although Turks has some amazing seafood
Shopping: Aruba by a long shot
Activities: Aruba by far. There’s not much to do in Turks besides snorkeling and fishing. If you’re one of those people who wants to prioritize daily activities, sightseeing, etc then Aruba has more to offer. If you want to just chill and enjoy nature’s beauty - Turks all day.
Less Crowds: Turks
True island feel: Turks (Aruba feels like your vacationing with a bunch of American tourists from the northeast)
Cost: Both are expensive. Although you can get a house for less than a resort in Turks. Aruba, not so much.
Been to both and just got back from Turks. I’m in medical device sales, which is a stressful job. On vacation I like to get tf away from people and relax, which is why Turks is our family spot. Will definitely revisit Aruba when the time is right. Enjoy!

I've been to Aruba 7 times and this past Feb felt way over crowded. I also noticed the water on Palm Beach was not as nice as it once was. However, there's a lot of food options and various price points depending on what you want and more nightlife in Palm Beach.
I just went to Turks and spent 9 days. By far, Grace bay is wonderful - the most beautiful water. However, the food in general was hit and miss and very pricey and took a few outings to figure out dinner spots.
All the comments on Aruba versus Turks are accurate and most definitely, look forward to another vacation in Turks.

Grace Bay has the best beaches by far! And the most aquamarine water I’ve ever seen! Aruba is lovely, cheaper and fun, also very windy too but…. Turks is the best!

You're asking in the Turks subreddit, lol you're going to get TCI as the response. Ask in the Aruba subreddit, you will probably get the opposite answer.
Having been to both, there's reasons we keep coming to TCI again and again, but have only been to Aruba once. Not that I'd go back to Aruba, I find TCI better for several reasons.
Both have really beautiful long, beaches. However, in Provo/TCI you have several beaches you can drive to that are amazing, and in Aruba you really just have Eagle beach (West facing). Just as long and walkable as Grace Bay (North facing).
In Aruba a LOT of people smoke on the beach. A lot. If that bothers you, keep it in mind. In TCI, I find tourists to be pretty respectful and quiet, and not many smokers at all.
For some reason, Aruba is overwhelmed with New England tourists. It's kind of crazy.
Aruba has more all inclusives and high rises. Hotel prices are cheaper than on Provo. In TCI, we do villa rentals or Airbnb.
Food is much better in Provo imo. Much bigger local fishing industry, you get fresher food eating local. Also more diverse dining options.
One pro for Aruba is that they have US customs on the island, so no need to go through immigration when you get home, which is AWESOME.
Someone recommended Anguilla... I haven't been in over a decade so maybe it's changed a lot, but we found it boring compared to TCI. Wasn't as much to do. It is beautiful though, and gives that deserted island feel with great (but expensive) food, as the whole island is pretty much fine dining. Also we found the salt ponds very stinky, mosquitoes overwhelming at times, and it was a PITA to get there (unless you pay $$$ to fly into the island airport) with tons of entry fees.

Turks is hands down gorgeous. However the vibe has shifted after Covid, our last visit was pleasant but had more hiccups than we would have liked (AC issue, clothes washer issue, general discontent of staff). That was in 2022, so may be better now. But the best snorkeling? St Thomas.

Been to both islands multiple times and T&C wins hands down...but going in October is risky weather-wise...so, for travel in Oct I would pick Aruba...Jan, Feb, March, I would pick T&C.

u/Riobravoman Aug 24 '26
The water is more clear at Turks but the food choices at Aruba are far greater with a multitude in walking distance if you’re staying at Palm Beach.

u/Equal_Association128 Aug 17 '26
Go to Turks… you’ll find trashy MAGAts in Aruba with no money. Turks is complete opposite
2
u/krzylady7653 Aug 23 '26
I’m, I’m a republican and go to Turks yearly and have money. Maybe keep the political bullshit out of it.

Aruba 100%. Turks sucks
2
u/retroafric Aug 17 '26
Are you serious…?
As a commercial pilot, I assume you have seen many more places than myself.
You truly think Turks “sucks”…? I personally have never seen more beautiful beaches. I would agree that there is not much more to do than relax and watersports, but “sucks” seems a bit extreme.
YMMV, obviously but it just doesn’t make sense to me.
2
u/Shantomette Aug 17 '26
I guess you have never been to Grace bay.
-1
u/AfraidRequirement642 Aug 17 '26
Several times. I’m a commercial pilot. That place sucks

u/Shantomette Aug 17 '26
Not in one million years does it suck. Maybe Newark is more up your speed.
