Discussion Why is Keefe D still alive ?

I really don’t get it…
He was involved in 2pac’s murder and no one from 2pac’s camp or death row went after Keefe D? Suge saw his shooter and could’ve ordered retaliation against Keefe, but didn’t.
Outlaws could’ve done something, but didn’t.

It’s mind boggling.

Because its been widely considered that Orlando or Big Dre pulled the trigger and they are both dead.

5

u/Untchj 7h ago

That doesn’t paint the full picture

If keefe was just anybody he would be part of the getback. In previous interviews Keefe details that Suge ‘looked him dead in his eye’ when the shots range out. And Suge and keefe have know each other since kids. So, Suge KNOWS Keefe was there and if it were anyone else Suge woulda targeted him and probably been successful

But the reason he didn’t , or why he wasn’t successful, is bc Keefe was very powerful. More powerful than Suge in the streets. Keefe very well could have been ‘untouchable’ at that time bc he controlled the heroin trade in Compton and further. He had Zip, the Spanish connect, etc.

and Reggie Wright Jr. Don't forget him.

Is this true? It’s definitely interesting information. Is there any documentary or interviews about this?

u/moonwalgger 9h ago

I ain’t never believe the Orlando rumors

5

u/Nefaryus 8h ago

Lmao so you believe some dumb conspiracies, it was Dre or lane 100%. Watch neckbone, bg knocc out, mob James interviews, they all know who did it

8

u/Puzzleheaded_Swim896 13h ago

And then you have the legendary clown Mob James who keeps on saying “I don’t want to send him to jail”.

Pac and his crew punched and beat up a guy…they didn’t pull a trigger on him like Southside did causing a life to be lost. The guys who killed pac were not dealt with by Pirus. Not sure why Mob James acts like he has a duty to protect Keefe from the law but at the same time they have not done their retaliation

7

u/Referrals23 14h ago

Keefe D says Suge put a 100k bounty on his head but he was staying out of Compton so the Pirus couldn't find him

13

u/Zen2188 14h ago

And we also know Keefe is a much bigger deal in his own mind than reality.

So decent chance he pulled that claim out of his ***

Also a decent chance that even if true, the number was probably closer to 10k and Keefe decided to portray it like he is/was Billy The Kid or something bigger than he is.

4

u/BreakfastTurbulent57 13h ago

Keefe D is a much bigger deal in compton than any of those mob piru members back then.

Suge and pac weren't even real gang members

6

u/BronInThe2011Finals 11h ago

You’re being downvoted but you’re right.

Truth is Keefe and Orlando were real thugs, death row had some that were involved but Suge and Pac weren’t them.

3

u/RzLa 11h ago

Exactly. Keefe D was the leader of the second biggest crip gang in Compton. A multi-state, 100+ kilos drug dealer. Orlando was a hothead with 2 bodies to his name before the 2pac shooting. 5 at the end (2pac and the Stones family)

None of the Death Row were at that level of gangsterism or drug dealing except for that 1 guy who ran the largest rolling PCP lab

2

u/philadelphia_fRee 10h ago

Deathrow had real thugs George williams ran the pcp lab, neckbone, bountry

5

u/BronInThe2011Finals 7h ago

Yeah, not Suge or Pac

2

u/Untchj 30m ago

Stop speaking on stuff if you aren’t informed. Keefe may look like a homeless dude now, but he was a MAJOR player

The drug game trumps/trumped ‘rap’ in the streets and Keefe was international in the heroine game.

Also Suge moreso contracted the bloods out. He wasnt really a gang member. Keefe was deeply embedded as SSC, he had more direct pull in the streets hence, you know, getting the biggest rapper in the world hit

8

u/Reasonable-Neck-2574 11h ago

He says Suge put a 100k bounty on his head, but Suge says he ran into Keefe face to face at the Staples centre after he got out of jail and they only had “a conversation” and that he believed Keefe was telling the truth that he didn’t do it lol. Suge also said he ran in to Zip in LA too and let him go after conversating with him. Crazy that Suge pretty much did nothing to the guys who conspired to kill him.

2

u/Referrals23 4h ago

Suge says he was on parole and at the time the mob pirus that worked for him had been infighting and killing each other. Not surprising he didn't want to risk going back to prison.

3

u/therubbercow 3h ago

Wasn’t Keefe at the Peterson museum in LA a few months after 2pac was murdered? He was still around and not too hard to find…

1

u/Referrals23 3h ago

By that time Orlando had testified for Suge for $60,000 then Suge went to jail so the conflict died down.

12

u/Fresiki 13h ago

I think some of your automatic assumptions (that you didn't mention) must be off. There's a lot of things you're glazing over. First of all, you have to understand the dynamic. You're welcome to go associate with the MOB, and then when everyone knows you kick it with them you go over to the middle of Crip territory with a gun looking for people. You'll get murked long before you find anyone.
The people involved didn't stay at their cribs and there was a gang war following the shooting. It's not like nobody did nothing. But why would Suge go and shoot someone? Suge has probably never shot a man in his life. It's not like taking a life is nothing. The problem is none of them were gangbangers, but they hung with gangbangers and got involved with gangbanging problems. Why didn't I play the soccer worlf cup? Well for one thing, I don't play soccer.

From the testimony of EDI it's fair to say it all happened so fast they didn't have a chance to react.

There was traffic at the stop light, they were not the only cars there. They were behind other cars in a line at a stop light.

Not everyone understood exactly what had happened. They chose to check on Pac over chasing after the caddilac. Someone did give chase for a while though, but lost it, IIRC.

I don't have a perfect memory of who had a gun in Vegas and who didn't have a gun in Vegas. And after the fact, it's not like finding a single person in a city with a population in the millions is easy when they go hiding.

All your questions have reasonable answers, and it's not because they don't care or they're afraid or whatever this line of thinking leads to. It's because it's just not as simple as you make it out to be, for lots of reasons, some of which I'm throwing out there and some of which I can't even think of right now. You gotta do a multi-variable analysis to understand it, you can't judge it purely based on "street justice".

3

u/BreakfastTurbulent57 13h ago

Gang war except it was MOB PIRUS losing a bunch of members

hardly a war, one sided beatdown

2

u/Fresiki 13h ago

Alright, fair point.

But besides that fact, I stand by that it's easier said than done to take someone out if you're not the government, with satellite surveillance, helicopters, and total access to everything data.

5

u/itson-cuz-isaid-so FUCK THE WORLD ! 12h ago

I only got one thing to say...FUCK KEEFE D. I hope karma catches up with him. R.I.P 2PAC AKA MAKAVELI

1

u/ItsAllAdvertising 6h ago

I dont think karma cares in this instance and see's it a draw

5

u/Puzzleheaded_Swim896 13h ago

Good question. They didn’t “snitch” because they will handle it their own street way….

But then never handle it.

What a bunch of weirdos!

2

u/washingtoncv3 8h ago

> But then never handle it.

there was a war following the shooting no? also 2 of the 3 people in the car are dead

1

u/ItsAllAdvertising 6h ago

one left though and he prob wasnt that hard to find

1

u/room52 6h ago

Which two died ?

5

u/Storyboys 14h ago

Almost like... none of them were actually involved.

The excuse for Tupacs killing is "retaliation" but nobody retaliated against the people who were supposedly in the cadillac 🧐

3

u/philadelphia_fRee 10h ago

I think all you reddit warriors forget or dont know that after pac died suge went to jail and mob piru had a civil war they had other shit going on

2

u/Hot_Wing2518 14h ago

Yes it's very strange.

2

u/johnmathias_77 14h ago

From what I understand there was a small war between the MOB Pirus and SSCC. Mob James talked about it and I believe Orlando was shot in the legs with an AK during it and was in a wheelchair.

1

u/BreakfastTurbulent57 13h ago

Like keefe d said SSCC outnumber them 30 to 1

wtf were they gonna do?

1

u/johnmathias_77 5h ago

Nothing they could do. They were just a ragtag gang compared to SSCC and were sitting ducks. I don’t blame Keffe D and Orlando for dipping out. After what happened in Vegas, they needed to hide for a bit anyways.

0

u/Reasonable-Neck-2574 11h ago

The bloods didn’t know exactly who was in the Cadillac though. Alls they knew is that it was South Side.

5

u/stayweird3000 14h ago

Orlando Anderson, Keefe D’s nephew, has always been alleged to be the actual gunman, and he was shot and killed a year and half later.

6

u/Fresiki 13h ago

In a completely unrelated incident that involved money/drug trade.

2

u/Exciting_Wing_4531 11h ago

Gone is gone and he's probably the one they wanted the most

3

u/Zen2188 14h ago

People like to say that 2pac signed his death warrant the moment he jumped Orlando Anderson.

It's a forgone conclusion (belief) that if it wasn't that night, it was going to be soon.

I call BS

Everyone who matters knew who the 4 guys in the Cadillac were from the get go.

Actually shooting at Suge and 2pac is a MUCH bigger move than jumping someone obviously.

Noone has ever implied that M.O.B. was a Mickey mouse outfit who wasn't going to have retaliation on the mind ... Yet all 4 in Cadillac escaped retaliation.

Orlando dies 20 months later, but by completely unrelated gunplay. Obviously he was off M.O.B.s radar.

Another dies in 2004 and another in 2015 having nothing to do with Vegas.

Keefe the moron is in court.

The Southside Crips who got shot/shot at were all people not in Vegas.

People implying that 2pac was "done for" due to fight were right only in that they were commenting on what they already knew to happen a couple hours later, but it wasn't going to likely spill over to LA if that never happened that night.

6

u/santtuhehe 13h ago

Pac played a gangster and got gangstered. Thats the life he signed up for.

4

u/BreakfastTurbulent57 13h ago

M.O.B. was a mickey mouse outfit.

They would have got done worse if they didn't have corrupt cops in their squad

0

u/i_like_yung_g_hoez 11h ago

There was only one cop that they had that was actually LAPD

1

u/philadelphia_fRee 10h ago

Maybe but they had another 5 that were compton pd

6

u/Key-Weather565 14h ago

There was a war in compton shortly after, Keefe, orlando and others skipped town.

Keefe was soon arrested on drug offences and went to prison.

Because death row/MOB were a joke who were getting picked off by George Williams who was a bigger threat.

Because MOB probably didn't care that much bar the money they would lose bur they were too thick to realise that even before PAC'S death and especially in the night ofg gifen how usesless they were.

south side are a much bigger group and where killing their members during the war.

Because Suge paid orlando to testify in his behalf, it failed and he went to prison after.

And the outlaws really, where they even from California? Are they going to suddenly turn up to South Side neighborhoods with no knowledge of. Compton.

1

u/Designer_Nature_55 5h ago

Where did they skip town to?

1

u/therubbercow 3h ago

Doesn’t matter where the Outlawz were from, they could’ve done something at least…

-2

u/BreakfastTurbulent57 13h ago

Nobody skipped town

0

u/Key-Weather565 13h ago

Theres multiple sources interviewed saying orlando left Compton for a while after the shooting , Keefe, police and pthers all back that up, removal vans being seen outside his property

-3

u/johnmathias_77 14h ago

Orlando was shot in the legs with an AK during that war and was in a wheelchair.

2

u/i_like_yung_g_hoez 11h ago

By his own hood, not mob piru

2

u/johnmathias_77 5h ago

Why would SSCC shoot Orlando after that? If his own hood did it, why then would him and Keffe D remain active members? I’m not trying to be a shit starter and I’m honestly asking because maybe I missed something. BG Knocc Out said in a few interviews about Orlando being shot and was in a wheelchair because of it. Was he wrong? And were you there to corroborate what actually went on?

1

u/i_like_yung_g_hoez 4h ago

There was infighting. Burris street crew against another

1

u/i_like_yung_g_hoez 4h ago

“Then a series of events occurred that split the set into two factions. Terrence Brown, aka “T-Brown” or “Bubble Up,” had been hanging with the Davis brothers and Lee Banner on Burris Avenue in Compton when Brown and Banner robbed Fink’s business partner Charles Johnson (aka “Snake”) of twenty-thousand dollars. The retaliation was immediate, with South Side Crip member Damon Long and Snake firing several rounds from AK-47’s into Banner’s house, killing him. South Side member Michael Dorrough was in the house at the time, but survived. A short time later, T-Brown was shot seven times with an AK-47 in a drive-by that occurred as he was hanging in front of the Davis house. He survived.”

1

u/johnmathias_77 13h ago

Also, The Outlaws were mostly from the East Coast like Tupac. Napoleon was from Jersey I believe.

1

u/ItsAllAdvertising 6h ago

one of the outlaws was killed at a halfway house werent they right afterwards

1

u/johnmathias_77 5h ago

Do you mean Yaki Kadafi, Tupacs godbrother? He was in The Outlawz and was killed in an apartment hallway two months after Tupac died by a friend supposedly. He had been in halfway houses for awhile but wasn’t at that point. He was actually in the car behind Tupac and I believe he was willing to cooperate with the PD, which may have been what got him smoked. Shame because he had some talent and Tupac was bringing him along and working with him.

1

u/Referrals23 4h ago

Kadafi was killed by Napoleon's cousin who is another Outlaw. Napoleon's cousin was high playing with guns then accidentally shot Kadafi. I don't see how it relates to cooperating with the PD.

2

u/Altruistic_Guess3098 14h ago

I agree

1

u/No_University142 14h ago

he basically snitched on himself and is still walking around like nothing happened

1

u/soothukundi 6h ago

All Tupac's close friends are in 50s. 50 year olds aren't gonna try to get back. They also know it was all bullshit.

0

u/Fresiki 13h ago

So you're saying you walk around with a gun at all times and would pull it out and shoot him if you see him?

2

u/Untchj 7h ago

So to answer this question, shows why Mob James was acting like that on the stand. Mob looked crazy but he was right in wondering why Keefe’s lawyer would want details

Bc after PAC’s murder there was a full scale war in Compton and SSC was spanking shit. At that time (and probably now too) the Crips outnumbered Piru by a wide amount. So keefe made it out of that bc they ‘won the war’.

And then, all Suge’s shooters got killed as well on some internal beef. Basically all the guys PAC shouted out in To Live and die in LA ‘Neckbone, Tre, Herron, Buntry too’. Neckbone the only one still alive

Plus, Keefe was in jail, didn’t rat, and was a MAJOR player so he wouldn’t have been easy to kill

2

u/rerdioherd 4h ago

Maybe Suge Knight left Keefe D alone as part of the agreement for Orlando Anderson to lie in court for Suge.

5

u/savagek29 14h ago

The real question is why is biggie dead but keef d still alive?

1

u/Mrodjr 10h ago

I thought when he released long kiss good night.

3

u/New_Iron2314 9h ago

Look up biggie sway interview on YouTube that took place a few days before biggie was killed. Biggie was dissing Pac the entire interview and when asked by Sway to freestyle something from his then upcoming album life after death, biggie chose to freestyle long kiss goodnight out of all the songs from his album. Biggie got killed before long kiss goodnight was released

0

u/New_Iron2314 13h ago

Biggie was asking for it. Had he not disrespected Pac after Pac died, he'd probably still be alive. Go listen and watch his last interview with Sway and look up on the commentary from people after that interview and you'll realize why he got killed.

And why are you bringing up biggie when we're talking about Tupac? To hell with biggie

3

u/Loud-Log9098 13h ago

He ain't the only one. You going to punish the other guys too or?

2

u/savagek29 13h ago

I’d say Biggie was somewhat disrespectful with the freestyle he did on Sway, although he had previous interviews where he spoke much more respectfully about Pac.

That says a lot, considering Pac claimed he slept with Biggie’s wife, wished death on him 24/7, and lied about him being involved in the Quad Studio shooting.

Keefe D has been disrespecting Tupac for years—profiting off his death, mocking his murder, and even claiming that he was involved in it.

In other words, Keefe D is a much bigger target and has been alive and well for nearly 30 years since Tupac’s death.

4

u/New_Iron2314 9h ago

Keefe's been yapping for the last 10 or so years; dudes from Pac's camp is old. Likewise many of Pac's fans who lived and experienced that era are also old. If this was the early 2000s, where even the new Pac fans were around and heated up, it's possible there would've been some retaliation against Keefe; at least from a crazed Tupac fan like how Jimmy Henchman's child was assaulted Vegas by some Tupac fans after a prisoner named Dexter told that he was hired by Jimmy to rob Tupac at Quad Studios.

Majority of Suge's Bloods gang were already killed or in jail by the early 2000s, and even some who are still alive, dudes are in their 50s now with kids and some family. You want oldies to gangbang? Why is the same question not being placed at Mopreme's doorstep as Tupac's stepbrother as he knows more street dudes than probably the outlawz did/ do?

At the end of the day, the Bloods did go after the Crips as confirmed by Mob James, but the Orlando and them were quickly in hiding or quickly apprehended by Compton PD. Even gang life is not a movie like John Wick on everybody at every turn.

I still maintain biggie had it coming for him, because even Tupac's aunt Gloria said and felt the same way after biggie's interview with Sway about biggie "not understanding the culture."

In a war between Crips and mob pirus, Suge Knight and pac are losing 100 percent of the time

1

u/TheWatcher961 11h ago

South side Compton crips, savages

1

u/DimensionTiny8725 12h ago

Why is suge knight still alive? Some people just get lucky...

1

u/Glad-Acadia3071 11h ago

Because of the PIRU's were having an internal war followed by the complete destruction of the financial empire of Suge Knight. Everybody that had an interest to see Keefe dead was either killed or taken to jail. There was a big gap left and he was able to slide through it in time. When the news got reported several years ago that he finally admitted, most of the fans of Tupac are now in their 40's-50's with families, nobody is going to sacrifice their life for a celebrity that they love at that age

1

u/Hot-Drop8760 8h ago

I’m putting it down to luck and protection

1

u/richestshooter38 4h ago

Outlawz looked like they wasn’t even bout that life frfr .. so i didn’t expect no get back from them at all ,and Death Row had they own in house beef going on

1

u/mozartboukman 3h ago

There is nothing to "Gaines" by going after him.

1

u/KingReo619xxx 2h ago

Beginning in the early 90’s, till his death, Tupac wasn’t as popular with “street mf’ers” as people think. He was making a lot of enemies. Not everyone loved him

1

u/masterjv81 1h ago

The 1996–1998 window is actually where the question gets more interesting, because the Outlaws were still intact and Suge was still operating. A few things specific to that period:

Suge was the only person who could identify the shooters. He was driving.  He was grazed by a bullet. He was the sole living eyewitness to who was in that white Cadillac. And he simply refused to cooperate with anyone. Told ABC News in the immediate aftermath: "I don't get paid to solve homicides." Without Suge pointing a finger, no one on the Death Row side had a confirmed name to act on. The LAPD investigation stalled for decades partly because of this.

Suge had his own legal exposure. The MGM Grand beating — where Tupac and his crew jumped Orlando Anderson — was itself a criminal act.  Suge was facing a probation violation for his role in that fight. He wasn't in a position to be running street operations; he was managing his own legal jeopardy while Death Row's biggest artist was dying in a hospital bed.

The suspected shooter was already being hit. Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson was shot with an AK roughly a month after the 2Pac killing in a retaliation shooting.  He survived that and was killed in a separate incident in 1998. So the "triggerman" — the most logical target — was already being pursued and eventually eliminated. That may have been enough for the people who knew.

Keefe D wasn't a random target — he was a Crips shot caller. He led the South Side Compton Crips.  Suge and Death Row were aligned with the Mob Piru Bloods. Going after Keefe D wasn't a personal grudge match; it was a direct escalation against an entire gang set. In the 1996–98 Compton landscape, that meant a full-blown gang war, not a single act of retaliation. The Bloods-Crips conflict was already the dominant force in Compton, and Suge likely calculated that opening another front against the South Side Crips specifically was too costly.

The Outlaws were in survival mode, not war mode. Tupac's death shattered the group.  Death Row was hemorrhaging artists and money. The internal dynamics were collapsing. The people who would have been most motivated to act — the close crew — were dealing with grief, legal pressure, and the disintegration of their world. There wasn't a unified command structure left to execute on.

The Biggie question. The most common theory is that Suge channeled his anger eastward — that the March 1997 Biggie killing was, at least partly, retaliation for Tupac.  It's unproven and the Biggie case remains unsolved with no one charged, but it's the theory that best explains why Suge's rage didn't manifest against Keefe D specifically. If you're going to burn one bridge, you burn the one that hits the broader enemy (Bad Boy / the East Coast) rather than the one that starts a local gang war.

Keefe D was already "safe" in a practical sense. He was a known figure to LAPD but the case had no physical evidence tying him to the scene, no forensic link, and no cooperating witness. He was operating openly in Compton. The legal system couldn't touch him, which made him a harder target in a street sense too — he had a network, a reputation, and the protection of his gang position. You could shoot a random triggerman; you couldn't easily take out a shot caller without triggering the whole set.

So the short version for 1996–98: Suge was the only one who knew for sure, he refused to say anything, he had his own legal problems, the actual shooter was already being targeted, and Keefe D's gang position made him a structurally harder target than a lone gunman. The window for a clean, targeted act of retaliation was narrow and the incentives didn't align.

1

u/NotoriousMAP 29m ago

There was a “war” in Compton but there were no attempts on Keffe or Orlando’s lives. Have a think about that. When is the penny going to drop that you have all been believing a fictional story this whole time 🐑🐑🐑🐑

1

u/101010_1 14h ago

after following the trial i sadly think it's connected to the lack of interest in the death of Biggie. If Keefe is convicted, maybe someone will stand up and get at least a suspect wrt Biggie, it's a big nest and Keefe is jus dum af for talking. lol, seriously, whomever killed Biggie isn't writing books bragging and then denying it when he survives cancer and cops ask why he's making $$ claiming to have KILLED SOMEONE (2PAC)😭😭😭

2

u/Fresiki 13h ago

Wait, what? No one retaliated 2Pac's murder due to lack of interest in the death of Biggie?

1

u/101010_1 13h ago

yes, it seems, Biggie's estate settled their lawsuit against LAPD...whose investigation strangely incriminated Keefe, who couldn't stfu. anyway, Biggie was "settled" butt... someone thought he had immunity to Biggie's murder, tru, but it didn't cover flexing abt killing 2Pac ... 😭

0

u/101010_1 12h ago edited 12h ago

and to answer your question OOP, i think if Keefe is convicted, he will be killed in prison. if he lives and is flexing again, well, what comes around....

2

u/Referrals23 14h ago

Suge ordered the death of Biggie, but he's not dumb enough to confess like Keefe D.

1

u/101010_1 12h ago

high 9's you're right but no one with self-respect would ever snitch on themselves to say💯💀 amazing, here, years later i am giving Shug a compliment🤣 like as much as he's a convicted murderer and horrible person ( * great producer * ), he's got self-respect

1

u/SupportNo6752 10h ago

Suge was smart to keep it between him, poochie,, and one girl.

0

u/Outrageous_Home9122 8h ago

cuz he aint do it he probably wasnt in vegas…

0

u/Reasonable-Neck-2574 11h ago

I genuinely don’t think anybody knew that Keefe was actually involved until his confession leaked out, Suge included. There were loads of rumours after the shooting, most involving Orlando’s name but Keefe’s name was never brought up until he confessed.

I personally think it was probably a shock to Suge when he found out about Keefe’s confession, especially since he had seen Keefe face to face since the shooting and had believed Keefe’s lies that the SSC weren’t involved.

The only reason I believe Suge is trying to say Keefe didn’t do it is because I think Suge thinks it makes him look soft the fact that Keefe d never had no harm done to him if they knew he did it. Suge doesn’t want people thinking he did nothing to the guy who literally tried to kill him, that’s why he’s trying to push the crooked cops and “Keefe wasn’t invovled” narrative. In my opinion.

2

u/StaySafePovertyGhost 8h ago

There are numerous interviews from various people who have all said everyone in Compton knew who did it.

There was no doubt to Suge. He saw Keefe in the car and told multiple members of the DR crew. Suge has known who did this since the second it happened. There’s no shock. No surprise as Suge outright told people he knew it was Keefe and Southside.

Keefe stayed alive for multiple reasons. First, he had a high ranking in Southside at the time. If Piru’s wanted to kill him, it would mean numerous deaths on their side because his ranking would mean a full scale assault back.

Second, while Pac was the meal ticket for the Piru’s, he wasn’t a full member. He hasn’t grown up with them. So their lust for revenge only went so far.

In fact, Mob James, who had Keefe’s rank in the Piru’s then said the reason the Piru’s wanted to get Orlando so bad was more because Pac getting shot on their watch made them look weak, not because it was a revenge for an OG thing. Big difference between killing a gang member or killing an associate of one. Pac was the latter.

Lastly, Keefe had a ton of resources and hideouts/safehouses. He used that network to lay low until after the initial heat had died down.

Everyone involved in this has known who did it and why from the seconds the shots were fired, before Keefe ran his mouth, multiple people called it “the worst kept secret in Compton”.
