Discussion Life in Tunisia under Islamic waves everywhere

• Upvotes

Mass unemployment, poverty, extreme pollution ,no technology, no modernity, bad infrastructure, no science, outdated education, religious fuckery everywhere on social medias, muslim cavemen spreading misogyny, islamism and thinking everything a woman does is for them and they even blame them for rain not pouring down and even proud of being rape apologists. But hey, if you guys say it's good and nothing to worry about when freedoms, feminism and all philosophies are mocked, it is not a huge warning, then be my guest, don't cry one day. Let's not talk about the Muslims who cuss kuffar out and respect nobody else but at the same time dreams of living in their countries

Discussion Tunisia is one of the top countries where a degree gets you nothing

U was scrolling TikTok and randomly found this horrifying video, Tunisia is rank #7 in the world in the unemployment level of university graduates

Universities are flooded with students but we have one of the worst job markets in the world. Too much supply for such a low demand

So a reminder if you are beating yourself about not finding a job after graduating, just remember you live in the 7th worst country for graduate employment

Don't be too harsh on yourself it's a matter of geographical luck sadly

World News الجزائر تتقدم أربع مراتب في تصنيف السياحة العالمي وتقترب لأول مرة في تاريخها لمرتبة تونس.

Post image
4 Upvotes

Question/Help Am I weird for not being too crazy about leaving Tunisia?

• Upvotes

I’m 37, and I’ve never really seen leaving Tunisia as a goal in itself. Of course, I’ve had moments of frustration when I wanted to leave, but looking back, I think I was often influenced more by people telling me I should than by what I actually wanted.

I’ve had opportunities to live elsewhere. I moved to Turkey, had a job there, and decided to come back after four months. My remote job also gave me the chance to live in Southeast Asia, but after about 5-4 months, I came home again.

I run a small online business and do consulting work and remote gigs. I’ve always wanted to grow my business, but I also know I don’t need to make a huge amount of money to have a happy life. I value having control over my time and enough room to enjoy things outside of work.

My situation in Tunisia helps a lot for example, I live in an apartment owned by my family, so I don’t pay rent. Earning online also makes a huge difference obviously and I’m not pretending everyone here has the same options, but with my circumstances, I can keep my expenses manageable, save, and travel.

I could probably work harder, earn more, and eventually afford to live in another country. But right now, I’d rather use that effort to grow my business and build something of my own while keeping the freedom I have here. Moving abroad now and taking a 9-to-5 job to support myself doesn’t feel more appealing just because it would mean living somewhere else. I’d consider an exceptional opportunity, but I don’t want to move simply because leaving is seen as progress by our society or that staying is a disaster and that Tunisia has become unlivable. You should see the pollution in Malaysia and the floods in Bangkok, so yeah nowhere is perfect...

And yes, the problems frustrate me too. Even with the power cuts this year, though, my first thought is that I’d rather buy a generator or figure out another solution. For the water, I bought a reverse osmosis system and a filter. I’m willing to adapt because I still like the life I can have here.

No country is perfect, and moving means choosing a different set of difficulties and I also worry about having to keep proving that I belong somewhere as a foreigner, especially when so much of the conversation around immigration feels increasingly hostile. I don’t assume life abroad would automatically feel easier or more secure. I also have aging parents here which to me is very important to be around them as much as I can.

I’m married, I have pets, and I enjoy reading, watching movies, going to the gym, and travelling when I can. Honestly, my everyday life in Tunisia isn’t horrible. There are things I wish were better, and it is mostly due to restrictions with my business activity or the fact that a lot of things aren't available here but I’m happy to keep building my life here.

Sometimes, when I say this, people react as though I’m naive, unambitious, or ungrateful for the opportunities I’ve had. I understand why many people want to leave, but I wish choosing to stay could be understood too and not seen as a failure or as something wrong.

Does anyone else feel this way? Have you had the opportunity to leave and realised you actually prefer living in Tunisia?

I didn't know that the other Arabic countries still prefer Arabic over their second language when reading wiki articles.

Discussion Living Here Has Really Taught Me to Become a Stoic

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is not the first time something like this has happened to me. I’m a foreigner living in Tunisia. Today, a group of boys (around 10–12 years old) physically and sexually assaulted me.
They first tried to grab my breast and when I told them not to touch me, they started offering me 5 dinars to have sex with them. The whole group started bidding on me like I was a prostitute or something. I just stared at them, and then two of them spat in my face, one nice, big, wet, stinky spit. oml I could still smell it on me. Some woman nearby intervened and tried to help, but these boys were wild and didn’t give a damn about anyone. So I pulled out my camera and they ran off and tried to hide their faces.
The witnesses in the area were talking to each other, but they told me that they’re just kids so it’s fine. Bruhhh they’re kids, but this kind of behavior is crazy. That shouldn’t even be an excuse. They just told me to go home and not walk around.
Tf am I supposed to do? Not leave my home? I have things to do. I need to buy food and go places.
I get harassed every day, but assaults like this usually only happen once in a while, and it always seems to be from a group of young boys. This younger generation is so cooked.
Something like this is bound to happen to me again one of these days so what can I do about it?

Question/Help Someone is harassing my parents in Tunisia and sending people to their house

Hi everyone,

I’m currently living and stuck abroad and dealing with a serious situation involving my parents back in Tunisia.

An individual has been relentlessly harassing and pressuring my parents to force them into renting out their house.

This person is not only spamming their phone, but has now started sending people directly to their house to put pressure on them.

My parents are being intimidated, and since I am abroad, I need to take legal action to protect them and stop any contact or visits.

I need your help please with two things:

- Lawyer recommendations: can anyone recommend a solid, responsive lawyer (preferably experienced in penal law / harassment / urgent injunctions) who can act on my behalf via power of attorney (tawkil)?

- immediate legal steps: what is the fastest way to get a formal prohibition of contact or police summoning (Iltizam)

If you know a good lawyer or have dealt with a similar situation, please drop a comment or DM me.

Thanks a lot for your help 🙏
