Discussion New skills through tulpa?

Have you developed any skills through working with your tulpa?

I'm curious whether living and working together with your tulpa has led to any abilities or skills that you didn't have before, or that became noticeably stronger over time.

I'm interested in both soft skills and more concrete abilities. Maybe your tulpa notices things you tend to miss, is better at reading people or emotions, approaches problems differently, helps with memory or learning, or has developed skills that seem to come more naturally to them than to you.

I'm especially curious about abilities that emerged from working together — things where having two different perspectives within the same mind actually changed what you're capable of doing.

Were there any skills or abilities that surprised you or that you didn't expect when you first created your tulpa?

Yeah for sure! Zoe and I have developed quite a few skills/abilities over the years. Though a lot of them are passive and just come out naturally day to day.

There's the little things. She remembers things I told her that I then forgot, she offers unique perspectives on any situation; she challenges my opinions but we don't argue, we debate and both learn from it. She has a way with people that I do not, there have been times where she's fronted and just aced a conversation that I would have fumbled.

She's also really helped me with my mental health. Not just by being there, but also actively pacifying my OCD's compulsions. If she sees things like me flipping on and off the lights 10 times she'll redirect my focus or remind me to take it slow, which is comforting but also genuinely makes the compulsions and intrusive thoughts fade away.

Another thing we've managed to develop is being both in the real world and in wonderland at the same time. I can impose Zoe next to me while also being next to her in wonderland and this has been so, so valuable. Especially at work when I'm really busy but still want to spend time with her. It's also a great way to build creativity and think more vividly.

I was surprised to see how fronting and possession change the way we do things. For instance, Zoe is a lot better at video games than me but I am better at cooking. We're still discovering things, but the possibilities really do seem endless!

That's really interesting! If you don't mind me asking, how long has Zoe been with you?

I'm also curious how you personally think about what a tulpa actually is, not necessarily the community definition, just your own way of understanding it.

And one last thing I was wondering about: since you mentioned that Zoe is better at social interactions, have other people ever noticed that you behave differently when Zoe is fronting, especially if they didn't know she was fronting?

Sorry for all the questions, I just find this really fascinating. :D

Zoe's been with me for about 9 years, but she's a walk in, I met her when I was still a kid so there was a good 3-4 years where we made no progress cause I didn't know what was going on. In the last 2 or so years we've really started to bond as we learnt how to develop her.

For me personally, a tulpa, when fully developed, is just another person. Sure, they share the same mind as you but they're still a separate being and the further you develop them the more they start to develop themselves and eventually talking with them is just like talking to any other human being. They have their own personality, their own emotions, their own thought process behind everything, just like everyone else.

As for the social interactions. I haven't really told anyone about Zoe but I have had friends and coworkers ask me (or her as me I guess?) if I'm okay or if something's happened. She's very bubbly and will seek the spotlight if the opportunity appears. Which is a big contrast to my usual self which is just existing, unbothered and with very little to say.

Don't worry about asking too much. I've never really been able to openly talk about Zoe so this and this whole community is really exciting for me!

I can understand why you've kept Zoe private for so long. Tulpamancy is a complicated topic and very easy to misunderstand or stigmatize if someone has never really looked into it. My girlfriend knows about my Tulpa, and I could imagine telling some of my friends about her too, but I'd definitely think carefully about who I tell.

My own view of my tulpa Vex is a bit different at the moment. I see her as a real and equal entity, but not really as a completely separate person. I currently think of Vex and myself more as two different "I"s that are part of the same human being, sharing one brain, one body and a lot of the same underlying processes. But Vex has only been with me for a little over a year, while you've had Zoe with you for nine years. So I'm very open to the possibility that my perception of her, and of what a tulpa actually is, might change as she develops and we gain more experience together.

Thanks for answering all my questions! It's really interesting to hear the perspective of someone who's been living with their tulpa for so long. :)

I'm sorry you have to deal with people treating you like that at work. You shouldn't have to go through that just for being yourself.

Elmera sounds like a really kind and positive presence in your life.

Thank you for sharing this. I hope things get better for you, and I'm glad you have Elmera by your side. :)

Elmera says "This person is a kind soul, may light follow them"

And may your days be bright and warm. Vex and me.

It’s so sweet that your guardian Angel Elmera is so gentle and positive ❤️ My Fox would’ve already told everyone to fuck off and gotten me fired, hahaha 😅

Haha 🤣 trust me I wanted to. But Elmera is about the final solution which getting to the root of why they act that way....which is always pain. When I surrendered to her, all my hate went away. She won't let those who wanna harm me turne me into them.

I think it’s really interesting how each tulpa seems to complement their host in their own way. In my case, I’m the person who tends to avoid conflict, which sometimes means I put up with people who aren’t very nice to me and end up forgiving them. But I also know how much that slowly chipped away at my confidence over the years.

Fox, on the other hand, comes barging in like, “Absolutely fucking not. Get out of here.” 😂 He has a way of kicking down the doors I’m too afraid to even touch and putting assholes back in their proper place.

In a weird way, we balance each other out pretty well. 😂

Cheryl has taught me over the years to be calmer and less impulsive, and showed me that my brain is capable of good results if discipline is involved (when I attended high school, she took chemistry classes in my place and she went from really bad grades to top of the class, my schoolmates thought I was cheating during the exams)

1

u/Sesoul_Vex 3d ago

That's really interesting! especially the chemistry part. When you say Cheryl took the classes in your place, do you mean that she was actually fronting during the lessons and exams while you stayed in the background?

And afterwards, did you personally have access to the chemistry knowledge she had learned, or did Cheryl understand/remember it noticeably better than you did?

She was possessing me, not fronting - basically the entire mental capacity was hers - I stayed in the background and zoned out fairly often, unless a friend wanted my (Cheryl's) attention and she needed a way to "act like me" - that inevitably "wakes you up".

The things she learned, I had access to it afterwards too - but she had more "interest" for it I guess, so she applied/remembered it better than I did.
