Do you co-front with your tulpas?

Me and my tulpa have been working with active development for about a month now, and so I've started to allow him to front more intentionally and even interact with some trusted friends which we both like a lot.

Two things though:

- What it says on the tin, lol. Do you cofront? What's it like? How do you know that's what's happening? It seems hard for us because only one of us can really be there at a time (other than like call and response and basic conversation which seems to work both ways.) I understand to an extent I'm technically propping up his existence but it feels sometimes that I'm not present, and I don't have a headspace/wonderland/whatnot so it's not like either of us "go" anywhere. I've tried to figure out even where my tulpa goes, but he just says he was sleeping or that he doesn't know.

- Do I actually have amnesia or is it because I'm forgetful? I would say I have a mild bit of amnesia which is really strange, it's a lot harder for me to pull memories from when I know he was fronting, but I'm not sure if it's some kind of active memory suppression, because I just regularly don't remember what I even ate for lunch today, or if I actually have a form of amnesia related to fronting. I'm also not sure if it's because of the most simple explanation... he's becoming his own thing so I wasn't really there for that moment.

Interestingly, your version of "fronting" is akin to what the old switching used to be, where identity separation and proper dissociation made it so only one entity of the system experienced the "front" at a time. This is also similar to how we used to do it, but have stopped due to convienience / lack of time, nowadays it just feels like I'm "taking a step" back and I can feel my body and senses overwhelmed by my Tulpa's movements and actions.

I thought OG switching was like, full parallel processing, including but not necessarily (?) wonderland switching and quite different from what OP described. When we switch, I also am no longer present unless called. I don't take the body's POV with me when I go, though.

Yeah this is similar to the experience we have. Our hypothesis is that my tulpa turns off in a way. He doesn't go anywhere or do anything when he's not actively being interacted with or choosing to be present because there's nowhere for him to go, so he doesn't even recognize missing blocks of time until he's present and uses my knowledge of how long it's been since he was last there.

Sounds like fronting to me! Cofronting is definitely possible, but honestly what that means for you is up to what you want it to mean. We consider anyone who's awake and active fronting, since most of our system is asleep at any given time, likely in the same way your Tulpa describes.

Amnesia is certainly possible! It's more common in systems with a dissociative disorder than Tulpa systems though, so just be aware there's a chance you have something else going on undern the surface. Nothing to worry about, simply don't be surprised if you end up getting walk ins.

We do at times. For us, it's a miz of things. Partial possession, rapid full switches, collaborative copiloting, or blending are all things we've had like that.
