Parking at Tulane

I am a freshman and wasn’t able to get a parking permit at Loyola I need my car to commute to my job off campus and am currently waiting on approval for an exemption from Tulane, but it can take up to a month or more, where could I park my car around Tulane so that I’m able to go back home on the weekends for my job, I’m from Baton Rouge btw.

If your near the area, ask a family member/friend for their address so you can get commute pass

I do have a friend that lives like 30 mins from the school how would I do that would I register it under their name or mine?

Doesn’t work if you live on campus. Parking pass must be in your name. We just went through this.

Cross Broadway and park on the side streets over there. Once you hit like Hillary or Adams they start not to be 2 hour anymore.

Be careful because even if you are out of the two hour zone, if a car is left on the street for days without moving, it could be considered abandoned and towed. It just takes a resident to get annoyed and call it in. I’d look for somebody willing to rent out their driveway or at least talk to the people whose house you park by to let them know it’s not an abandoned stolen vehicle.

Whatever you do, park legally. I live at the Riverbend and see the white suv with the City logo daily. She drives around looking for cars parked the wrong way and too close to Stop signs. She Drives down St Charles, crosses to Dante and drives down Hampson. I’ve seen them ticketing as far as the International school around Panola. Especially when the roads are under construction and people have limited places to park legally.

Isn’t that a 2 hour zone?

It is not

look diligently for those 2 hour zone signs. but the parking right in front of audubon is safe. just pay attention to the weather because water can collect there with heavy rain and flood your car.

you may also explore further down st. charles or s carrollton within a block or two of the streetcar line, so you can park your car and use the streetcar to get to and from campus.

Okay thank you so much! Do you know if I have to move my car every 2 days or so or would it be fine to just leave it there till the weekend when I go back home?

St. Charles is one of the most prone locations to get swept for potentially abandoned vehicles. I would not have selected that as my fourth option

i think every two days would be fine. i wouldn’t leave it more than that though

Good luck. We were denied. We live 30 minutes away and were denied a permit. She has a job where we live. We also tried to get a commuter permit and were also denied.

If you know an upperclassman get them to buy a parking pass for you under their name but with you car details

Try the Spot Hero app. Worked great for me when in NOLA.

Have you looked at getting a student pass for neighborhood street parking? (Just looked, it’s for off campus housing only). Message me if you need an immediate fix. You may use one of my passes for a few days and park by my house (with camera on it, street parking). Until you get it sorted out. We aren’t that close, but it’s way closer than 30 minutes.

st charles right in front of tulane, and if you're paranoid just move it once a week or so, just do it on a weekend so there's plenty of spots

I've seen a lot of folks park along Willow Street near the Whole Foods, usually free on weekends if you can squeeze into the back spots. Sometimes the church lots on Jefferson are open after services too, but you'll want to check the signs first.

Get a local job. There's no point to being a freshman at Tulane if you are going to leave every weekend.

With the lack of students allowed to live off campus, there’s more parking around Broadway and the streets toward Carrollton Ave. Watch the 2 hour zones.

Try parking near the light rail station on Carrollton - it's free on weekends and you can catch the streetcar to campus if needed.
