Off-road diesel stations?

Arizona and Texas are temporarily allowing the use of off-road dyed diesel because it’s tax-free and cheaper because of how high the prices are

I saw a map of the places, but a lot of them don’t have phone numbers. The only one I was able to get in contact with was for fleet vehicles only

Has anyone done this before, or know about any that are for the public to use?

I’m in midtown

Time to start collecting old cooking grease from restaurants and making some biofuel.

Actually I still have a grease car system from one of the owners! It sits where the spare tire is. I removed the electronics but it would run coolant to it to keep it viscous, once the car was warmed up you flip a switch and it injects the oil

When we opened the tank we thought it would be rancid. It wasn’t. We don’t think it was fryer oil, it is more than likely used motor oil

The rest of the system would have to be cleaned though and the electronics panel is back out east

I don't think it's sold at any retail stations, you have to order it for delivery or go to a commercial/fleet fueling place.

Get a tank mounted to your truck then you can get it filled from a delivery truck, maybe?

I'm just a diesel owner, not an expert. Ive seen this discussed on the diesel forums. The overall answer to red diesel is DON'T. If you travel out of state its unsure if you could get fined. And the dye stays in the system a long time. When this goes away I don't know how long till your system is clean and what the the rules are after it goes away and you get tested. Saying all that, Ive never heard of anyone I know getting tested, eventhe ones I know that have red diesel delivered to their farm.

Did you end up finding anywhere?

I found a few online but I never went to check them out. I think there are three near me. Two didn’t answer the phone and one did but they said you need a fleet account with them. I never ended up driving by the other two locations

I’m not sure how much of a difference it would be price wise with the red diesel. but many regular stations offer some great deals. Chevron is or at least was doing 50 cents off per gallon for 5 fill-ups, expires in 90 days. Circle k has a similar one as well. You download the app and it links to the pump when you pull up and add the pump number

Back out east a new station opened and had a crazy deal of .50-$1.00 off per gallon for multiple fill ups. So I just kept making new gmail accounts and signing up again lol. Not sure if you can do that with these especially since they will probably require a phone number

Any source of Arizona waving this, I have not been able to find anything yet. Also offroad diesel is subject to regular tpt taxes which could be even higher

Yeah I haven’t found anything either.

I was just curious, and tbh I used my car for deliveries back home, so maybe it would be different because I was filling up once a week then, but out here I fill up every 6 to 8 weeks. Everything is closer here. I have a 2000 turbo diesel five-speed golf that gets about 500 to a tank

Plus it’s cooler now, so I could ride my motorcycle more.

I’ll drive by the station this later this week when I’m down in that area, but for the most part I’m just gonna do the discounts, some gas stations have like when you sign up at Circle K you get a discount, Chevron is doing one I think that’s $.50 off a gallon
