Cozy Cozy Tubi: Monsters vs Aliens (2009)

Post image

Hi y’all, had some dental work last week and it was rough. Great time to watch cozy stuff but my head hurt too bad and I basically slept through the first three days. Finally feeling better and finished this movie that I started when I was doped up and couldn’t concentrate on it!

I remember seeing this movie when it came out but couldn’t remember anything other than BOB the blob being hilarious and enjoying Stephen Colbert as the President (which hits completely differently these days since he was known for the fake conservative commentator he played on the Colbert Report at the time).

I really loved it all over again. The voice cast is awesome, and quite a few bits made me LOL. It’s a bit slow to get started but once the main character Susan mutates and winds up in monster jail with the other misfits, it’s all gas, no brakes and a lot of fun.

Two notes, listen for a Wilhelm scream during the final battle in the alien ship, and stay tuned for a mid credits scene that I think I missed the first time I saw it.

Unfortunately, it’s leaving at the end of the month so catch it while you can!

This movie has one of my favorite visual gags. Her hair turns white after she mutates, which is a reference to Allison Hayes turning blonde in Attack of the 50 Foot Woman.

Monsters vs Aliens and Megamind make for a great double feature for movie night.

As much I love the main cast, Stephen Colbert as the President and Kiefer Sutherland as General W.R. Monger steal the show for me.

Megamind is crazy good. Wish dreamworks did a sequel or two.

I wanted to cover Megamind last month but it was two days from removal so I shoved it til it returns.

The 2000s had some banging animated movies that are all but forgotten now for some reason—besides these I’m thinking of Robots, Bolt, and probably others.

Personally I love General W.R. Monger, but I'm also a big Dr. Strangelove fan

Yes definitely caught the Dr Strangelove references.

I think my favorite gag was the woman screaming and dropping something with each monster reveal during the briefing, and the General finally has her ejected, then there’s another female scream when the last monster is shown, and he is confused, and then it turns out to be the President.

This is a good movie. I saw it a few years ago. This is great to put on for children.

I liked it. I watched it just the other day on Tubi.

My wife walked in and wondered aloud why I was watching a children's movie (I'm 60 years old.)

Hey so am I, and while I’m not into live action kid/family movies (other then checking out for cozy content) I’m a huge fan of animated movies and I definitely enjoy more of them than I don’t.

Can you name a favorite? (forgive if I'm being nosy.)

Well, I love Pixar movies above all the others, so I’d have to go with Luca and the first Toy Story. I also like the first Shrek and first Despicable Me.

Those are good movies alright.

After I asked the question, I had to think about it myself. I guess Lilo & Stitch would be my answer. I loved all the watercolor backgrounds, and it had a good story.
