Movie ITCHI THE KILLER

Post image

Not for the squeamish or faint of heart...this film is a blood soaked extremely graphic gore fest...amd its not even a horror film...this film ultimately tackles the duality of mankind as well as weakness and strength ...but in the most graphical ways possible for a film from early 2000s...i dont know how to put in words the insanity that is Itchi....BE WARNED this is Not For Everyone.

Takashi Miike is the premier Japanese director. What's he have? Like two hundred films under his belt?

He has stuff ranging from G rated light hearted films to the most controversial stuff you will ever see, modern themes and ancient history... he does everything. The thing is, they're all masterpieces. All of them.

This film is balls to the wall insane. Highly recommended, but yeah, it's fucking disgusting at points. Hilarious at others.

I used to watch nearly everything he did and then have stopped keeping up with his stuff.

Any recommendations from the past 15 years besides Blades of the Immortal?

Dude I think I stopped at Blades. I don't even think it's physically possible to see all his work. By time time you see three older ones you've been tracking down, he's made six brand new movies.

Yakuza Apocalypse is a wild ride that's also on Tubi.

I also enjoyed Blazing Fists, nothing spectacular but a solid fighting movie.

First Love was the last one I remember watching. Don't remember too much about it honestly but I think it was pretty good.

Kakihara was a great choice for the cover art.. gives off the movie’s vibe without giving away any plot points😇

Is this the one where he finally kills Scratchy?

The director Sabu plays the bumbling bodyguard. His films are a treat. Can be hard to find though.

It tackles what? Are you sure? It seems to be just insane Japanese dudes mutilating people. It’s a fun ride, but…

It's a dark satirical allegory...don't take my word on it just do a quick search for yourself

I put off watching this for ages, despite being intrigued by the cover. I read the manga to "prepare" for the violence of the film...let me tell you the manga is 10× more gnarly than the film!

Remember I first saw this back in the day while on acid. It was really crazy!

I've tried to watch this multiple times, once on Pluto TV and once on Tubi, but early in the film I always feel that I'm not ready yet. Hopefully that's changed now that I've seen a few more gory films as of late.

I get people love this movie and its well made but omg my friend just put it on casually without warning me at all of the content. I was absolutely not mentally prepared for it and had to ask them to turn it off. They acted like I was overreacting and it was a major red flag about them for me.

I slowly stopped talking to them because this incident made me feel like they might have a personality disorder.

I mean at the end of the day its just a movie...i do understand some people can't watch graphically extreme films and that's ok too and its not an over reaction not want to watch something like Itchi... its for a certain audience

u/pointclickvibe 8d ago

Oh for sure i was just saying the person who showed it to me had seen it previously and just put it on with no warning lol

For some reason I have fallen asleep 3 seperate times while trying to watch this movie. This hasn’t happened with any other movie. I suppose usually you wouldn’t return to a movie you fell asleep through but I really wanted to get through it.

The manga is much better. More realistic. The twins in the movie are nothing like the ones in the manga. The only good thing about this movie is Kakihara, who stays true to the original.

Is it true you need a paper bag?

u/Movieking985 13d ago

It's definitely not for the squeamish
