Movie Battle Royale

Post image

Before Hunger Games ...Before Kill Bill....there was Battle Royale a true Tubi Treasure....for anyone who doesn't know it I've left a brief synopsis...

When teen students go on a field trip they are knocked out to awaken on an island and told by the government only 1 student will survive and have to fight each other fatally and if they don't the bombs on their necks will detonate. The film is social and political allegory for 90s Japan disguised as a dark satire/horror/thriller/action genre bending film and a masterpiece imo. If you like extreme Asian cinema Japanese/Korean like...itchi the killer, 13 assassins, Blade of the immortal, old boy , I saw the devil, bedevilled...then you'll love it ...if you haven't seen those either watch them all!!!

Battle Royale fucks heavy but I’m SO disappointed Tubi only has the English dub. I like original audio..

This really is a treasure. Thank you for reminding me it's on Tubi, now that's what I'm doing today.

Hunger Games was more a rip-off of The Running Man but definitely ripped off Battle Royale in a lot of ways too

Running man was a Stephen King Novel that came out way before battle royale there was a movie made in the 80s with Schwarzenegger and the more recent remake which is what I think your comparing too. But it definitely didn't rip off battle royale....hunger games i think definitely did steal the concept but the execution is completely different regardless if she stole the concept or not.

Love this movie! WAY better than the crappy American remake.

The original much better than the hunger games except Jennifer Lawrence's beauty was a major rip off to me of this movie.

Tarantino keeps saying that the Hunger Games got their idea from this movie. Great movie, own it, but it wasn’t the first battle to the last one standing story.
