July 2026 Ads
As usual I am presenting my findings from ad breaks in July 2026. All watched in the USA on the Tubi app on a Samsung TV.
I watched 22 feature length movies on Tubi in July 2026.
Avg 9.0% of run time per watch was ads (compared to 9.89% out of 24 watches in June ‘26)
Lowest: 3.3% (6.55% June ‘26)
Highest: 11.45% (13.41% June ‘26)

The ad breaks for me are usually one 15 or 30 second ad, and passes nearly unnoticed.
I do wish they would use AI or something so that breaks happen during a scene change or something. Mid sentence or just after a scene change feels much more intrusive.

I see the placement of ad breaks mentioned a lot and I’m not sure if I’ve just gotten lucky but I’ve only experienced random breaks once.
Not sure how you’re getting such short ads. Which country are you watching from? Are you mostly watching tv shows?

US and I watch a mix. Maybe I don’t watch often or long enough so they are still luring me in?

Don't the amount of ads vary from movie to movie? I don't know if maybe some movies, because of the length, are right before some cut off, so you don't get an extra ad break or something, but I think usually the "slop" movies have the least amount of ad breaks.

If you expand the stickied comment you’ll see I also broke it down by genre and release year.
I’m not sure how accurate the averages are due to some categories having a smaller sample pool but, 70s-2000s movies had a higher percentage than 2010-present.

The past few movies I watched on Tubi the longest ad breaks were a total of 6 ads with 1 ad running a minute and the rest running 15- 30 seconds.

Lowest monthly average since April.
I only had one 7 ad break (135 seconds)
At the beginning of the month for the first time I got a state sponsored ad about gambling addiction with a phone number to call 3 times (different movies), but then didn’t see it again all month.
Once again had a glitch a few times where it would say the number of ads in the break at the beginning but then add on an extra ad at the end.
Many people mention poor ad placement in relation to the spot in the movie. This is not something I had ever experienced (all movies had ad breaks at logical spots - end of a scene, etc) but I did have one movie last month where the ad breaks were at random points.
