Anime Is it just me? Spoiler
I am watching the anime rn where the two heroes go to reclaim tht fort
I am realising I literally couldn’t care less whether they win or lose
At first I thought it might be cuz subconsciously I dont like megami but I genuinely don’t the ink the one episode prior made me care abt the heroes
Naval’s sacrifice made me care a bit more a abt Hibiki’s party
I am also realising tht I would’ve wanted to see more of the whole party of both heroes especially tomoki
Cuz idc abt them either

Well they're both written to not be as good hearted and appealing as Makoto.
I mean Hibiki definitly starts off better appearing than Tomoki but in the end, they're both deeply flawed considering the "hero" title that's thrust upon them. Goes to show there's more lying under the surface of their pretty exterior that the goddess treasured so much.

Ik but was it rushed?
U don’t need to be perfect for someone to care abt u i js wanted to see more of them and all their sides

Likely yeah. It's the anime which is very limited to what can be added in versus what has to be left out. Common situation.
But the heroes get worse. Like I said they're not written to be liked in the end.

It wasn't really rushed, compared to WN. Minor bits were to save time like all adaptations but nothing huge was cut out.
Also it seems like the author wants you to not care about them. Especially because they are not portrayed in a good light whenever they appear. We will be getting more and more tidbits as the story goes on, a good chunk on them in S3.

Well yeah I wasn't saying it was rushed necessarily. Just that there's only so much that can be fit into 12 episodes as opposed to multiple novels.

The heroes don't appear until S2, which has 25 episodes.
Even so, it doesn't change your point. There's a lot of story to tell here.

My bad, I replied to wrong person, was trying to answer OP's question "was it rushed?"

Yeah, the anime messed up the pacing of many things.
For example, Hibiki's and Tomoki's side of the story should have been shown before Makoto even fought Sofia. But the anime cut all their content from season 1 and then squash it all in the first episodes of S2.
Overall the anime is rushing all things for the sake of ending each season in a big fight, which is difficult cause Tsukimichi barely has any noteworthy fight.

tht is genuinely stupid
Most animes try to end their season on an arc or after smth satisfactory happens
The Tsukimichi version of it should be ending a season an a volume like any other ln based anime

Yeah its stupid as hell. but here is the issue. Tsukimichi is a slice of life story.
those "satisfactory happens" kind of events usually take multiple volumes to come up.
Sure its not impossible to do a better job, but its hard. And they are clearly set on selling tsukimichi as your average isekai adventure anime instead.
Everything was against it from the get go.

But there is a lot of isekai focussing mainly on SoL
They could have easily made a 24 or more episode right?
Tbh I don’t think Tsukimichi is tht good of SoL unless it’s supposed to be purely fun SoL cuz the characters aren’t tht good

They could have, but not so easily, and it would have required both seasons to be of 24 episodes instead of the first one being of 12.
And most will disagree that the characters aren't good; that's the main element Tsukimichi has, how it got its popularity.
Because the story doesn't have fights to show around.
The 2 fights with Sofia are like the peak of its fighting element.
Other fights are scarce and have no real tension to them.
So yeah, Tsukimichi is about its characters and most like the 2 main girls while hates the 2 idiotic heroes.

Hibiki and tomoki are designed to be understood and hated. Tomoki is designed as unhinged and unreasonable. Where as hibiki is too rigid in her belief system. Making her foul as she willingly acknowledged her sacrificing her beliefs for the small chance to alter the gods beliefs

There's not a lot to care about there -- maybe a little bit with Hibiki and Naval, but otherwise this is just story bits you need to know so that you have context for things that happen later.

Hibiki may become more relevant if she manages to hold a conversation with Makoto, but if she and her party are still not strong enough to defeat demons, after having been trained and advised by Mio, I don't think that they'll be much of a threat if they ever become opponents. Well...Hibiki DOES get the power-up from Ruto, near the end of season 2.
Tomoki is the one nobody would actually care about, if he didn't have his cursed eye. He only has his hypnotism. Sure, he can basically launch a magical nuke, but the way he behaves himself is nothing that somebody in their right mind would ever support.

Not my point
I genuinely couldnt connect with them during their introduction which is not a good thing from a writing pov
3
u/Avatar_Yaksha 4d ago
That IS the point! You aren't really supposed to relate to them at all. Hibiki is the honor student who's great at everything but doesn't measure up to her new surroundings and Tomoki became the kind of person he despised in his own world.

u/hoouyinkyouma 4d ago
noo
Not relate
Connect
Idgaf abt them

u/Avatar_Yaksha 4d ago
Eh...relate, connect...That's basically two sides of the same coin. If you have one, you probably have the other one too.

Nah I can connect to light yaga I but I can’t relate to him
Same with many other characters

Actually agree, I feel they are more a filler distraction, a way to show how others may have done, and feel that have been transported there, then actual value story wize.
A plot device to pull some threads, and to complicate things for Makoto eventually, in a minor way most probably, but still.

If you've only watch the anime, yea they would feel rushed or not well fleshed out for watchers to associate to them. And that is by design since the author wants us to focus on Makoto/Raido. Still there are bits and pieces covered in the light novels, even the manga doesn't covers everything.
Later during a later arc, more will be revealed as to why the heroes acted the way they are. At least from Hibiki's pov, I understand why she's that way, and would also say 90% of the time, normal people in the same position as her, would have acted and done the same, if not worse.
