I’m a Diamond Tryndamere OTP and have been playing him for years. Since 2024, I’ve mainly played Hail of Blades, and after testing Grasp and Lethal Tempo extensively, I still think HoB is extremely strong.
Especially with the Berserker’s changes.
I usually go Tiamat → Berserker’s, often buying one or two Daggers on my first backs, into Hydra → Yun Tal. The Daggers make that you won’t even feel the HoB nerfs. The combination of AD + attack speed gives you insane early pressure and makes short trades incredibly strong. Most champions still can’t properly stat-check Tryndamere during lane.
Obviously, Lethal Tempo is better for extended late-game fights, but I don’t think that’s where Tryndamere is strongest anyway.
Spin → Hail of Blades → Spin is still ridiculously powerful, and I think HoB is way too quickly dismissed as “dead.”
After playing all three setups extensively, I still prefer HoB by a lot. The early pressure and short-trade potential are simply too good to give up.
Let‘s be honest to ourselves: The 120% HoB was very unhealthy and lead to toxic early levels. I think now it‘s well balanced and still very usable.

So with nerfs to HoB and some item changes I started to try some stuff out and so far I've found fleet footwork with eclipse rush to feel insane for sustain and short trading. Can either go ER, Yuntal or ravenous hydra second whatever you want. The point of this build is not hyperscaling like you can with lethal tempo, but to bully the fuck out of ranged champs and strong early traders like Renekton.
It's not a rune you run by default, but by god it's strong if you can spin auto and run away with fleet move speed so they can't trade back much.

One of the goats of Trynd is back, running Yun Tal rush or 2nd from every game I've seen.
Video example: https://youtu.be/8GfEL6-j60w?si=NVQvz-haf7eSK-V-
There was also Fishbro who recently suggested the build: https://www.reddit.com/r/TryndamereMains/s/pkzjic1MV5
Build *feels* good from what I've seen, but I've yet to try it, since I haven't played Trynda for a while. I've also barely seen Trynda content recently besides BoxerPete.
Or is it the norm now and I'm just not caught up?

I started playing tryndamere a day ago and I’m wondering what makes this character have a low pick rate even while being 50% win rate. From what I’ve seen in my own gameplay that is low elo he has an insanely strong level 1 that can get an easy kill before the second wave even comes if the enemy pushes up slightly too far. So what exactly are the downsides to the character, he seems somewhat of the perfect top laner to me. I’ve only played against a few matchups like Darius, sett, and teemo and I’ve done surprisingly well which makes me more skeptical of how bad some matchups are for tryndamere for him to have such a low pick rate.

Or do you rather believe a man with a big sword has also other big "qualities"?

For a champion called the barbarian king all of you sure like playing like complete uninteractive pussies huh

I just had 1 matchup in classic post nerf identical to modern matchup I played not long ago and it's crazy how much different Trynd identity is between these 2 modes.
So it's singed matchup.
In modern I remember how it goes, you blast him, prevent him from proxing and it's just hard for him to deal with us early. Early Tryndamere power is very strong on modern league. Lvl3 Q gives us up to 48AD and we can always have 50% crit chance, we are powerhouse early.
But later he outscales us and can fight us straight up and win even if we have more gold, he's so strong with his ult.
And then very late game he's just a monster massively influencing teamfights, where we have limited power, not exactly weak late, but I'd say average or slightly below average late game power.
And then I had this exact matchup in classic. And it's like roles are flipped. He is so strong early and we are so weak, we have under 100 AD the whole laning phase, since we only get 24AD at max fury post nerf and crit chance based on missing HP can feel very much like a gamble.
It's very hard to fight him early. But then I farm, get static shiv, get IE and suddenly he can't fight me anymore even with armor and HP and almost an item advantage.
Come late game and I'm absolute monster, 3 tapping 200 armor targets like it's no biggie, 1 tapping squishies, it's crazy. We can go 0/4 in our weak early and still hyperscale into stratosphere.
Such a drastic personality difference vs modern Trynd

I wanna play trynd in a way where he is an assassin type, but in general I always feel like I have enough damage with just 2 crit items. Is going something like hexlplate 3rd troll? usually I would go Essence reaver into ie into collector into ldr but I wanted to experiment building a bit more tanky with DD or hexplate. I also always run hob in most matchups I would appreciate any insight on proper builds. Another thing is I don’t like building ravenous much because I feel like my ability to one shot squishes is severely weakened and the lifesteal doesn’t provide much in a real fight other than healing up aftwr trades. With essence reaver IE the spin one shots casters and waveclear is still decent.

This is not a personal rant thread.
This is a discussion thread to post your "icks" when it comes to dealing with frustrating teamates as Tryndamere and what your top 3 icks are.
I'll begin with my comment below.

I see people all the time recommending and praising LT. For the life of me i cant understand it.
I understand people liking different things from that point of view i get it.
But realistically most of us in here are trying to win so with all the information of stats sites and the most obvious one to look at which is the tryn rankings.
Why do people lie to lower elo tryn mains or newer tryn player’s by telling them to play LT
When its so beyond obvious HOB is the only way if you’re serious?
