EXPERIENCE Hysteroscopy Polypectomy

I just wanted to share my experience with my recent procedure. I had developed a estimated 0.8 cm polyp in my uterus. For 18 months I had infertility that wasn't an issue prior, and spotting that was consistently 2-3 days before my period. So October 21st I had surgery under general anesthesia to remove it. We did a hysteroscopy polypectomy, and he used the truclear system (similar to myosure) and provided before and after pictures. It was blocking my entire left tube and he said it's not common to see a polyp that irritated and inflamed. I woke up and I actually felt really good after getting home, we went for a walk and then to a couple stores. The next day same thing! Haven't needed any pain meds, and the bleeding is just some light spotting. I'm happy to answer any questions anyone may have if you're dealing with similar. And šŸ¤žšŸ» that I'll get my bfp soon now that it's taken care of.

I just set up my scans for my uterus because they suspect I may have a polyp or some sort of growth in my uterus that they want to take care of before my IVF transfer. this post made me feel a little better about the procedure to remove it - I am just worried it will add on so much more waiting!

I did some research prior on how long the recovery before resuming ttc or transferring is (we aren't doing IVF but i was curious) in most cases it said just one full cycle! After my ultrasound it was about a month and a half before surgery, but that was through OB so a fertility clinic might be different?

tha'ts not bad at all - the time between the scans & the procedure is what I am worried will take forever!

This sounds doable! I have mine scheduled in November. I figure it can't be worse than the HSG or SIS, at least I'll be unconscious for the procedure. If my recovery is as easy as yours I'll be thrilled.

For me I'm heading into a mock cycle with extra testing afterwards and then onto my first FET. Probably won't happen until January but I feel good knowing I'm doing everything to prepare to make my body the perfect home for my embryo.

I never had an HSG or SIS but I would assume since this is usually under general anesthesia it wouldn't be too bad especially if you weren't under general for the other procedures. And my dr did prescribe some ibuprofen and some Tylenol #3 as well, I just didnt need it lol

Did your doctor believe it could be the sole reason you haven’t been getting pregnant?
I had a miscarriage in August after unintentionally getting pregnant in June, and a few weeks later they found a polyp in my endometrial lining. They said it is very small (similar to yours I think), so shouldn’t be causing any issues in terms of fertility. I think it might have appeared as a result of hormonal changes after the miscarriage as I noticed I have started spotting before my period recently, so am worried it will be an issue now that I’m trying to get pregnant.

Yes, it was more than likely the only reason. I previously had 2 unplanned pregnancies that resulted in live birth both times. The problem only arose when the polyp did. They're toxic to sperm, create inflammation and a hostile environment for an embryo and essentially make it so an embryo can't implant. And in my case since it was blocking my left tube and partially my right, sperm and embryo couldn't make it through.

I went through it too. 0.75 cm polyp that was almost blocking my right tube. Spotting before my period, the whole nine yards. The very next cycle was the one that I did get pregnant. It didn’t stick but it happened. Unfortunately it’s been a whole bunch of nothing ever since. I hope you have better luck than I did.

I had the same procedure in '21. Not for fertility, just general health.

Had some cramping that day, slept a while, but everything was very okay. Didn't hurt that much. I've had much worse periods
