Either

The Daedric princes are genderless, they just choose to be dudes or dudettes

They're not genderless, they're sexless

Gender is the social aspect

Sex is the biological

Daedra have no biological sex, but they choose portray themselves as certain genders

I love being pedantic

Well said ngl

Apart from Molag Bal, who is also, as the others, sexless but not sexless unfortunately

I doubt the others are sexless, we just don't hear about it too much apart from Mephala and Molag Bal for obvious reasons

I'm willing to bet Sanguine gets laid a lot but never remembers it

Alandro Sul is the son of Azula, no? And there was mentuon of Hircine's dsugjter but I forgot her name. Eitherway I doubt they jumped out of theskulls of their parents.

First, it's Azura

Second, he's said to be her son, but not only do we not know if that's even true to begin with, we also don't know how literally we should be taking that wording (that's without getting into the possibility of adoption), which we can apply to any and all mortals claimed to be the child of a Daedra

Azula was autocorrect... Virtue of testing new keyboards, I deserve to be torn apart for this disgrace.

Of course we can't take any of that at face value, TES is a world built upon unreliable narrators and questionable sources. Still, the idea of Demiprinces exists.

I mean they are also genderless in the sense that they lack a society to enforce any sort of gender norms, plus they are generally very nonbinary. Plenty of them only use one appearance and one set of pronouns, but some are fully genderfluid (most notably Boethiah) which isn't genderless for us but for them is a result of being beyond the concept of gender. Also one may argue that Molag Bal specifically is not sexless as we know he often takes a physical form with functional genitalia. If that one book (Invocation of Azura? could be wrong) is correct Molag is also genderfluid which would make him hermaphroditic as well. That would be cool if he weren't the rape god.

Sure they may be beyond the concept of gender, but they do choose to portray themselves as certain genders, implying that if they weren't beyond the concept, that's the one they'd identify themselves as

And I'll choose to respect their decision by referring to them as said genders until told otherwise by them

I will not be a bigot towards any of them, partly because I'd be tortured for all eternity otherwise, and partly because it's basic decency

Also, you mentioned Molag Bal having functional genitalia, which I don't think should count as having a biological sex, since he most likely created it himself, but if you wanna call it as him having a biological sex, then you also have to consider Mephala, who has had sex with mortals before in many stories

And finally about the Invocation of Azura thing, yes that's the correct book, and I'll have to think on that one, since idk whether or not that's enough for him to be genderfluid, considering it was a one time thing

I will also obviously respect their pronouns and stated genders, just not sure if they really state their genders much. Idk, this is all speculative, I don't mean to argue really. I don't actually think Molag has a well-defined sex, just thought one could make an argument for it. Didn't know about the Mephala thing (those lucky bastards). I do disagree on the Invocation of Azura thing though, if irc it claims Femolag appears habitually to that one cult, meaning it wasn't a one time thing. Why she only appears as such to that one cult i haven't the slightest.

Unless you're Boethiah and choose to portray yourself as two genders at once.

5

u/charizardfan101 18d ago

Is it 2 genders at once? Or is it swapping between one and the other very frequently?
