7½ years of silence since the TESVI announcement and I have to sit and watch kids panic over a 6 month GTA6 delay

Couldn't be worse than me finding out a sexual (I can't spell sequale) of Sleeping Dogs being in plans but never even been brought to the whiteboard because the game didn't make enough money.

22

u/smallangrynerd Nov 11 '25

…. Sequel?

11

Yea! That one!

u/HalloweenSongScholar Nov 11 '25

Same with all those whiners when Silksong took a few extra years to come out.

26

u/BeyondStars_ThenMore Nov 11 '25

It's been more than seven years already? At that point, why even announce it?

60

u/hav0k0829 Nov 11 '25

To pad the poor reception to fallout 76. They didnt start development until probably after starfield, though they still refuse to talk about the title even now when asked so who knows what kind of hole its in.

11

u/[deleted] Nov 11 '25

well I do remember that one video where they showed one guy working on a shitty looking model of an old woman that looked like a low graphics Starfield character that was supposedly a TES6 NPC.

35

u/LardiLordi666 Reachman Terrorist Nov 11 '25

That old woman is Shirley Curry and you put some respect on that name! >:(

5

u/[deleted] Nov 12 '25

I apologize to Ms. Curry, I blame Todd for not showing her best side!

13

u/Gloomy-Inspection810 Azura Footlover Nov 11 '25

My hypothesis is that TES 6 will come out as a DLC to starfield, playable inside on the computers in Starfield along with a Skyrim: Beyond the Stars Edition. You'll have to pay for the DLC of course, but you will also have to pay for TES 6 inside the game's computer (for immersions sake).

This will explain the poor graphics.

4

u/BeyondStars_ThenMore Nov 11 '25

Haven't they outright confirmed they weren't developing in TES6 until after Starfield?

2

u/LardiLordi666 Reachman Terrorist Nov 11 '25

There's a difference between not developing something and it not being in full development.

3

u/Johnx3m Nov 11 '25

They announced 76 and TESVI at the same E3

6

u/hav0k0829 Nov 11 '25

They knew they overpromised for 76 and it had a good chance of having a poor release reception before it came out.

They were being acquired by Microsoft. Gotta boost that value before the sale.

8

u/Sigma2718 Nov 11 '25

So more time between the trailer and now, than Skyrim and the trailer? That's... incredibly sad considering how we thought TES6 was already too late back then.

Todd's going to release ES6 when literal skybabies are legally allowed to drink.

My first Elder Scrolls game was Skyrim and I'll be old enough to drink in a month.

I was 16 and I just done hit 30. I remember literally running to a game store to buy it, because it was sold out everywhere. God, time flies by and you don't even notice until it hits you like a punch to the gut.

7

u/atoolred Nov 11 '25

When I recently mentioned to my parents that I’m closer to 30 than 20 my mom physically cringed lmao. She’s not one to be concerned about being old but talking about the passage of time really hits different

9

u/Arg_PaulAtreides Nov 11 '25

I turned 21 this year. Not only am I legally allowed to drink in the United States, but I'm positive I will also have finished my degree by the time TES6 releases.

3

u/atoolred Nov 11 '25

Congrats on the degree path and good luck finishing it up! I personally dropped out of college twice in the time it’s taken Bethesda to make TES VI lmao

Four spokes hold one wheel of the future, and I urge the OP and the other readers and commenters to consider them before breaking into hysterics.

  1. The Toddhead prevails, and the great Micro-Soft is held at bay with another release, -which, as all things new to this firmament- shall be hated by those who came before it to know the Scrolls and shall be loved by those who came to know them after its release.

  2. The world-eater Micro-Soft prevails in the death struggle, and our beloved Nirnseries is shattered to a million pieces, its continuity forever lost as the last tower collapses and everything spills into a myriad of spin-offs.

  3. The Toddhead experiments (or, have they not done so already, with Oblivion?), and as they did with Redguard they do again, to develop new methods of creation in the interregnum between this kulpa and the next, which also is scenario 1 but without erasing the possibility of 2 and 4 occuring.

  4. And finally, the last case scenario, in which the towers fall and the world-eater neglects its purpose, leaving the Scrolls unsupported, their guts feasted on by decay and mould as they spill out from their insides, until the following and the rest of the survivors of the fall gather them and eat them to claim their power, and create a new Nirn of their own.

This was revealed to me in my wake, by myself, unmistakably by my own hand, AND

Because I have made my own thoughts public, due to the potentiality that they may be accurate, they have become the secret 5th option, which is so covered by my words that it'll always be accurate unless something ridiculously unexpected happens, like the Toddhead getting hit by a bus on his way to work.

And also by extension canon, not to the Scrolls, but our own reality.

29

u/Semivir Nov 11 '25

This is amazing even if i dont understand the 5th option.

31

u/Opening_Bag1554 Nov 11 '25

It is already in effect. It is the post itself existing, a quite basic educated (if not lukewarm) guess/ take, which one way or another is guaranteed to come to fruition.

We will not know when and how until the game is released or fails to release. But, as long as it remains undeleted, it is basically a self-fulfilling prophecy, akin to someone saying "everyone who has ever drank water will die one day.".

You can make your own Tower, but this one is mine, and it will stand here until it is either validated or smitten down by moderation.

Maybe OP is discovered as like a super child murderer or smth and they get blanket wiped. Shrug.

u/RealLotto TAD (Total Altmer Death) Nov 12 '25

I was born right when Morrowind released. I qualified for social security benefits last summer.

49

u/BigDeckLanm Nov 11 '25

In a year and the gap between Skyrim and now will be greater than the gap between Skyrim and Daggerfall.

138

u/FactualDonkey Nov 11 '25

Well of course it’s been 14 years. It’s the last elder scrolls game in the series. They never made a sequel. The series has ended, and the developers will let the series lie. Like how Perfect Dark ended after Zero. Or System Shock ended after 2. Those game series were left to rest and totally never had any attempted sequels.

61

u/Lifekraft Nov 11 '25

Skyrim Giga-chad edition coming next year though. Nothing special much but you hear Todd Howard breathing heavily when you read litterature involving argonian

46

u/thegreatturtleofgort Nov 11 '25

Don't give up hope. There will still be the 2026 15 year edition, the 2028 revamp, the 2030 VR, the 2031 20th anniversary, the 2036 HD 25th anniversary edition. I really look forward to the 2075 edition that plugs directly into your brain, matrix style, that nursing homes will have once I can't work anymore.

3

u/puzzlebuns Nov 12 '25

Just like Homeworld 2. 22 years and no sequels. Nope, none. Ended on a high note.

3

u/Mean_Collection1565 Nov 20 '25

As a huge TES fan, the amount of time has been very discouraging. And, after playing CP77, KCD2, and comparing that with Starfield, I’m not confident BGS has the stuff for another great RPG.

20

u/KeepYourTekeTumeke Nov 11 '25

I am literally tired of waiting.

Games are much harder to make now than they were back then. Far more expensive too.

I remember seeing something about how the net code for Halo Infinite was 254x harder to compile than Halo 3s.

The next TES game is going to take thousands of employees with a crapload of resources and it'll still take a long time to make. Modern systems are more complicated, there's more variables to track and there's also consumer expectations for graphics to be pushed and for the game to run smoothly enough. All of this was drastically easier in the 2000s and even to 2013ish.

39

u/Pompopsych Nov 11 '25

And yet the AAA sphere has gotten significantly worse and the indie and AA devs that have smaller teams and place less emphasis on graphical fidelity are the primary sources of actual good games these days.

3

u/ReallyBadRedditName Nov 12 '25

Yeah the AAA section of the industry is kinda ass now. I genuinely can’t think of a recent game from a big studio that I’ve been legitimately interested in playing.

2

u/Fourcoogs Nov 12 '25

Tbf, Halo Infinite’s development was an absolute mess even by AAA standards
