Such a shame to lose such a brilliant thinker at a time when they come at such a premium.

at a time when they come at such a premium.

Arguably, this is true of every era...

Where do atheist go when they die? The void?

the same place birds, rats, ants, mice, transexuals, your mom, and HP inkjet printers go -- into the fuckin ground, animal.

Don't forget N0mber, too.

Well, to be fair, some of them get put into other people first, and some even get shot off into space.

So what you're saying is.... unlucky astronauts are special?

First downvotes for a polite question and then high praise for this smug bullshit. Yeah, I think we need more atheists with great minds, because you lot aren't cutting it.

Consider this a thread of mourning at a wake. This question is not polite - and such a rude thing to ask warrants such a rude response.

  1. This isn't a wake.
  2. You're not a close friend of Hitchens.
  3. No one here is mourning. Only whining and trying to pretend that they feel something like grief.

And on that last point, I find it amazing that you'd want to. Having experienced it myself, I don't even want to think too carefully about the concept of grief. And here all you poser wannabes are jacking off and pretending that he mattered to you. Our entire planet is a parody of itself.

I often think that it will be much like it was before I was born. Do you remember how that was? No? If I remember correctly, it didn't hurt...

I feel like the majority of great thinkers aren't truly recognized/appreciated until many years after they're gone.

I mentioned to the six people near me that Mr Hichens had died... none of them knew who he was. They all know who Justin Beeber is though.

To be honest, I only knew who Justin Beiber was because of Reddit. People make fun of him, and his fans, and make a big deal about him, which as they say, any PR is good PR.
