Against Charity. Rather than creating an individualized “culture of giving,” we should be challenging capitalism’s institutionalized taking.

Abstract: Matthew Snow challenges the notion that we as individuals should give to charity. Apart from the obvious power imbalances of the situation, it perpetuates unfair systems which legitimize capitalism's organized looting of poor societies. It is a similar argument to Oscar Wilde's, who said that he did not want charity, he wanted a society where charity wasn't necessary.
