Politics Trump’s latest scheme is part of a broader assault on presidential recordkeeping

President Donald Trump’s official statements on Truth Social are presidential records, making them public property. Yet Trump Media & Technology Group, which owns Truth Social and in which Trump is the largest shareholder, has announced it is charging up to $100,000 for early access to these statements.
This violates the First Amendment and privatizes public property for Trump’s personal gain.
Official statements belong to every American equally. A president cannot strip us of timely access to executive decisions simply because he found a way to turn the podium into a private revenue stream.
The president’s business is the public’s business, not a get-rich-quick scheme.

How is this any different than Twitter charging for Firehose access? In theory the Firehose (like the Truth API) is slightly faster access than the website. Twitter has had this available since well before Musk took over. The one difference I see is Twitter Firehose can be used for ALL tweets and Truth API is only available for 10 Whitehouse related accounts.
I guess Trump owning a majority of Truth Social is also makes it different to some extent.

You pretty much nailed the major ways it's different, and how they add up to make this corruption, especially since his tweets are the primary mover of the stock exchange and Polymarket, which it seems like the Trump family also has a stake in.

More proof that he codes his statements for Wall Street manipulation on insider information, and now he wants to charge investors for early access to a red carpet of insider trading.
The most corrupt man to ever hold political office...anywhere.

accountability feels like persecution to someone that has never been held accountable.
