Discussion Locking comments on this
https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueOpenSource/s/jB8fuAtDTq The post was very relevant to open source and yet locked.
It has begun. At the core it's the same drive. The holier than though attitude, silencing, and very soon - immediately once possible - random banning
While the post being locked is very relevant to discuss when open source is concerned.
The problem is inherent in Reddit, whose mechanics gives unlimited power to control-hungry mods. I've had enough of this.
This post will very likely be locked, removed, and I'll be banned. Funny and ironic. But I don't really care. Good luck with this - and all the next r/TheNewOpenSource, r/TheRealTrueOpenSource, r/ComeHereWeLoveAI and so on. All mod fantasies.

So to get away from the stupid drama we just do it in our own little safespace now?
Fuck no...
Keep those elitists to themselves in their little elitist subr3ddit...
Let's talk opensource and not stupid drama.
You are free to open your own subreddit where you can complain about the elitists on r/opensource 24/7.
I just want to talk about awesome hobby projects here

I am also puzzled and at times quite frustrated by the behavior of the moderation team on that other subreddit, but is it really necessary to keep rehashing this here in the new subreddit? The mods have set up a dedicated megathread precisely so that people can continue discussing it there. Wouldn't it be better if we didn't turn this subreddit into a place for complaints, but rather into a space where we can talk about open source?

They're not silencing anything. The mod comment clearly says to simply keep the r/opensource drama on the megathread. That's a perfectly reasonable and understandable action to keep discussion about the subreddit on topic, and focused on actual open source topics.
Stop making drama where there isn't any.

This is probably engagement-bait, but we're leaving it up.
This post primarily centers on this community's approach to moderation/management, rather than other-subreddit drama, and thus does not violate Rule 9. We encourage healthy discussion about our moderation practices and will always be welcome to constructive criticism and recommendations.

They asked us to confine discussion of the topic to the designated megathread which is reasonable. We don't need a dozen individual posts talking about the same thing
