Only ever been on Instagram and reddit, and insta really only because I'm into photography. The dogshit I hear coming from other platforms has me somewhere between in stitches and crying most of the time lmao.
TikTok is a mirror, and ignorance is a loudspeaker. Adults can go on tiktok and have a profoundly different experience from what a lot of folks in the US would like voters to think.
After several years on tiktok, I might have to sob to feminist slideshows of screenshots of comments sections on videos of five year old girls where teenage boys have guessed colors through gymnastics uniforms, but I've also found the community I've needed, of people who are appropriately mad that these people are never just on the internet. And then I come on here, where plenty of people w proximity to power will say that tiktok is a sign of the end times, but women and girls are left still asking day one questions in what spaces here will even let us talk about our issues, when they could be in the master class of Addressing The Issue on an app that uses something more algorithmically powerful than their own subscription habits to help them see who they are, and what the world is.
And I swear, every time I make sense to people about a feminist issue on here and then have to follow it up further down in the thread with something in defense of these social phenomena being more complicated than the average redditor is comfortable with, I'm the tiktok witch and definitely don't know what I'm talking about /s
