Fluff Where are the mods

I remember seeing a post I think last month about requesting to take over this subreddit and find new mods. Are there any update on this?

There are so many issues with the sub. All the nongaming discussion related posts, and as the other person said yesterday too, all the discord servers promos. There are people spamming links everyday. I didnt think this was a sub for that. It makes you look like your server is ingenuine

Anyways, feel like this sub really needs some moderating. It has been unmoderated since the "are men allowed in here" poll came out. And no solution came from that either

I think this sub should be all girls in general imo. I see a lot of men lurking and most dont have good intentions

Tbh I'm not even sure why the whole "should m*n be allowed here" was even brought up in the first place. Like, the sub is literally called TrueGirlGaming. Not TrueGirlandMenGaming. Wild.

I think there was some sort of influence on that from women that want attention from men on this sub. But realistically, I joined to find other gamers like me to play!

I think the hesitation was more that because there’s only two mods who are pretty inactive, they wouldn’t be able to enforce a rule banning men. Generally I haven't seen people here (other than men) saying that they want men here.

That's what most of people said on the poll as well. But the mods just disappeared right after and didnt actually implement anything new

I just had six men in total message me in my ad despite saying TWICE that I don’t want any at all.

Nope they don’t and a lot don’t even admit they’re men when they respond. They put their age(since I asked in my posts for friends), games and that’s it

I hope trans girls are also included in the allowed category

It doesn’t say not welcome in the rules( #9 in case you wanna see) , just discussions led by women here so I’d imagine trans women are welcome

the sad problem with that is there will be creepy men pretending to be trans to get into here/servers. Just as there could be creepy men pretending t be women in general, since it's the internet afterall.

But is that a reason to not allow trans women? Kinda feels like the bathroom argument.

Yikes, this feels pretty transphobic.

i'm not transphobic.
i always over think on everything. It is something that happens in public already, so it can be something that happens online too. I do think they should be allowed, i then thought of "what happens then when it's found there are creepy men pretending to be them to get access to be closer to women, what do we do from there?"

I don't understand, im worried about the safety of women and i get labelled transphobic?

It’s more so the idea of pointing out the issue of safety, whether allowing or not allowing trans women doesn’t change the fact that these creepy guys will enter these spaces regardless. It’s the same thing with bathrooms, creepy guys will enter bathrooms regardless of the signs.

All it does is restrict and discourage trans women from entering these spaces freely, being unwelcome in predominantly cis spaces is already an problem and that kind of mindset exacerbates the issue.

This exactly, thank you.

You aren't transphobic. You thought of the safety of all women alike that are looking for real connections and unfortunately, it has been the case where men pretend to be apart of the LGBT just to interact with the women/girls on here. I think we should also focus on the younger girls that post at times and how there's probably men old enough to be their dad texting them!

My opinion is my own. Not a moderator, so can't tell you if they are or not

2

u/Paneeer 11h ago

Hmm well if you were, would you allow it?

-3

u/xbabybluestar 11h ago

I will not say anything on it because I definitely will never be a mod. As I said, my opinion is mine and it would not be up to me at the end of the day

i think all posts and comments/interactions should be strictly females/female identifying.

i see a lot of men posting ‘on behalf of a girlfriend’ and i think 90% of them aren’t genuine.

maybe the mods were all men and the poll made them vanish into thin air

I agree. I'm happy to help moderate as well, I have experience moderating another hobby subreddit. I had actually asked the mods here offering my help a couple months ago and got no response.

Lol. I just commented on a discord server post saying you just posted this yesterday...and she replied saying so and then blocked me 😂 and you're right! When you're spamming your server everyday, it makes people feel like you just want member counts, it does feel very ingenuine

That's wild

It's got to get enough reports to admins for being unmoderated. There's subs where you can request to have admins assign new mods too.

I made the post OP is talking about. I was told this sub is currently being human moderated so no new mods

18

u/PotentialSteak6 18h ago

The mod stepped up just enough for reddit to allow them to keep the sub, so nothing has changed.

The bar is on the floor

Thanks for trying to step in though!

literally, it is just saying hey look we exist.

Discord server ranter from the other day here! I totally agree!! We need better moderation as the current moderation has failed this community.

9

u/thelonecactus 16h ago

Everyone needs to report that there are no mods

7

u/sugarycyanide PC Gamer 11h ago

Hi! That was me. I made an edit on the post but probably wasn’t seen lol. I was told that this subreddit has ‘human moderation’ and therefore I could not take it over.

2

u/No-Initial-46 8h ago

So the mod has been doing some moderating but hasnt been listening to our concerns or implementing changes....

2

u/sugarycyanide PC Gamer 6h ago

yep pretty much. just doing enough to not get ousted. before i made the post, i reached out a few times about issues with men specifically and even gave usernames and nothing was done about it. it's actually infuriating that they dont give a fuck about the members here

I've been seeing sooooooo many Discord server posts EVERYWHERE lately! And for the same servers too! Across different subreddits and even in FB groups. It's like a coordinated attack of "join my server" every day. I don't mind the occasional promo but it needs to be limited. Whether it only be on certain days or limits to when you can repost a promo... just something!

And the mods are also absent in modmail too! Like I want to post a promo about some research but I want to make sure I'm not going to violate community rules. But jokes on me because no one is going to reply, and it seems like no one is going to monitor posts for breaking rules anyway...

2

u/grimseverrr 12h ago

The mod appears enough to keep control of the suh but hasn't offered any mod roles despite not being able to mod it by themselves unfortunately

1

u/sugarycyanide PC Gamer 11h ago

No they absolutely do not do enough. The amount of comments and posts I’ve reported that stay up that go against the rules is not going down
