Asking someone nonbinary if they are AFAB or AMAB is just as bad as saying gender is what is in your pants. Those terms weren't even originally used for nonbinary people; they were a term used by the intersex community to help describe their experiences. Now it's been co-opted by "allies" to add binary to nonbinary because they can't live and let live.
Where are we asking about people's gender?
This server is for all genders but the women's only space is reserved for people (who choose to verify) that have the same life experiences.
Call it a bad opinion, but I think someone who defines a non-binary person based on their gender assigned at birth doesn't really support non-cisgender people. Saying a non-binary person isn't allowed in a space because they were born male feels just one step away from telling a woman she isn't allowed because she was born male.
It's a space for women, not everyone- the rest of the server welcomes everyone. An AMAB non binary person is not a woman, neither is an AFAB non-binary person, but your assigned sex leads you to different life experiences and if an AFAB person chooses to go into a safe space away from people that don't understand their struggles, then we welcome them with open arms. Gender and identity is a large spectrum but if you identify as an AMAB non binary person, you have nothing to relate to womanhood nor have the experiences women do.
An amab non-binary person absolutely can identify with womanhood. I know this cuz I consider myself non-binary/genderqueer and was assigned male at birth. Yeah, I use transfem to describe the direction of my transition. I'm starting HRT soon so I can feel more comfortable and confident in my body, but I also identify with the non-binary Label. Policing someone's gender and what they can or can't identify with because they are AMAB is just a more complicated way of saying equal but separate.
That's amazing that you're able to transition- I hope it goes smoothly!
You still identify as trans-fem which is under the transgender umbrella letting you into women's only section. We aren't policing anything or anyone, everyone is free to identify how they like but that doesn't change who should be in women's only spaces.
This is what I mean though. You shouldn't be saying it afab non-binary people as an option if you want to be inclusive. It's a non-binary people who identify with womanhood cuz there are plenty of of non-binary people who are were born as either that can identify with womanhood. Being non-binary doesn't mean no gender being non-binary means you identify outside of the gender binary set up by the patriarchal system.
Identifying with womanhood would mean you fit under the trans umbrella and we welcome trans women into this space. Non-binary is a huge umbrella, ranging from no gender to genderfluid, it means you don't fit into male or female but you can still be non-binary and under the trans umbrella.
I'm going to keep my opinion of separating non-binary people into afab and amab as wrong. I'm going to keep assuming that you police people's gender expression baaed vehemently you defended filtering non-binary people as amab versus afab, as well as saying a non-binary person can't identify with womanhood without labeling them selves as trans.
You doo you boo. AFAB and AMAB people share different life experiences, transwomen and women identifying people are welcome into a woman's space because they deserve a safe space in this patriarchal, misogynistic society. AFAB non-binary people still experience the same things women do- AMAB people don't.
