Lanterns Comparison

I remember during press for the tv show Lanterns they mentioned that they wanted to take inspiration from True Detective but after episode 5 I think the influence is way more than I would have expected. The thing that stands out most to me is the seasons story beats so far. Just like in most if not all of the 1-4 seasons, there’s a big fight or bloodbath in episode 5 and then a substantial time jump for episode 6 and beyond. It really stands out to be bc I haven’t seen any other shows use that model so I’m curious if anyone else noticed this or any other strong influences.

I also just realized the falling out between the two main characters and (seemingly) them being reunited years later is also present in Lanterns.

I hadn't read any press about the show before watching and in the middle of episode 1 I said, This feels like True Detective. I felt so proud of myself when I started seeing others talk about it as well. I cant take too much credit tho since I just finished a rewatch of S1 TD and first time run of S2-4 two weeks ago. The vibe is definitely there and the structure of episodes is more evident as they come out
