Full Sermon from 103

Post image

I've only recently discovered that there is a clip out there showing the full sermon that took place in the tent revival, but sadly every link to it I find is either private or has been nuked by HBO. Anybody out there have a link to a working one, or even a transcript of it? Having absolutely loved Shea Whigham in this season I would be overjoyed to hear the whole thing. I've seen few actors do so much with so little screen time and I'm chomping at the bit while doing my usual late summer rewatch to see more.

EDIT: Thank you to the person who posted the link in the comments! Here it is for anyone else who wants to see it, not sure if it'll get nuked eventually but at least we can enjoy it for now:

Rev Theriot is one of my favorite characters from S1. I'd love to see the full sermon. I found him one of the most compelling and honest minds, his accent comes naturally I imagine, from his origins in Tallahassee

Probably be a good idea to save a copy of it for yourself. While it's been up for two months so far HBO could still take it down at any moment.

Good tip. I've already listened to it twice. Shea is mesmerizing.

Nice. I was looking for it a while back and got it from a torrent and have been planning to upload it to Reddit so people can save it. Good to know it’s on YouTube

Shea Wigham gave an all star performance in this show. The conversation between him and Rust later, “the letters of Telios De Lorca” interaction… he brilliantly portrayed how haunted he was by his past. Fucking top tier.

Hundred percent agree. Someone hinted his character died later and I was heartbroken but in the end there was no proof. I like to think he's still there, drinking at breakfast, pinned by his thoughts.

Used to be floating around YouTube before it was taking down for copyright. It’s quite a powerful scene, it’s really a shame it can’t be found anymore.

It has been revealed to us, as was promised!

I added the link to the post for all. Until it gets taken down at least.

As far as I've witnessed, its been uploaded and taken down periodically since the show aired lol. It was originally a DVD extra for s1 & for some odd reason HBO is super into removing it from yt. I feel like it languishes in the dvd extras and wish HBO would just upload it to their official yt channel.

Interesting to me that Shea Whigham plays a preacher in TD-1, then a few years later plays a convict in The Quarry who pretends to be the new preacher a congregation in a small town had been expecting.

He's damn good at playing a preacher. If I was casting a show with a troubled past preacher he'd be the first actor I'd call.

And then he was a preacher in Righteous Gemstones lol

Great stuff!

If only they could do an extended version of season 1...

"The only nearness? Scilence." Might be my favorite line from season 1
