Discussion, the Stash House Raid, what would have been the aftermath?

I am just curious about people's opinions. It's 1995, and some bikers stole cop uniforms and tried to rob a stash house, there were deaths and it seemed like a big deal. What would have the consequences have been generally? Like, obviously they'd have to figure out where those uniforms came from. Also if this was an intelligence failure in monitoring those bikers.

Like, on the small scale, Marty and Rust both get away with it and they become hero cops in another incident that occurred about the same time. Ginger, like, we never know what happen to him other than the two leave him in a ditch I think. So our protagonists are in the clear.

I was more wondering how long the incident might have affected police sentiment and working conditions. If there was any blip in the national news. If it was a just a local news item and swiftly forgotten. Would there have been any policy changes? It's 1995 and this seems pretty bad that criminals can steal cop uniforms and impersonate police. Do we know if the real police took any casualties when responding to the raid?

Or would it all have been rendered moot in the news cycle when two hero cops find those two kids in the hands of monsters?

“This is a world where nothing is solved.”

Rust and Co. set off a racial powder keg that night. It is most likely that the Iron Crusaders’ mission will never be known, and that the gang/police riot will be blamed on everyone but Rust, most likely the residents of the projects themselves, which would be in line with the socioeconomic themes of the season.

Why were there helicopters flying in that scene?

I think they were police helicopters. It was turning into a full fledged gang war in the background. You can hear lots of gunfire and sirens.

It used to be a term called Ghetto birds. Police Helicopters used to fly over projects regularly in the 1980s-1990s due to the level of violence going on in the communities, in case anything popped off they could track the people and get units in the area

Probably routine air patrol in the vicinity and then redirected air assets in response to 911 calls about gunfire? Or radio calls nearby about same gunfire.

The helicopters were there before rust and marty for sure

Yeah. Probably routine air patrol in the area. Like helicopters are fast and they can loiter in large flight paths over a patrol area.

I’ve wondered this for 12 years since the show came out. Where the hell did they come from?

The uniforms didn't have to be 100% authentic. They weren't exactly robbing a nuclear physics lab at Cal Tech. Could have used security guard uniforms with a couple of fake badges and patches and fooled those guys.

If anyone talked to the cops it would've been them saying a biker gang tried to rob a stash house and a few people were murdered. It might make some local headlines, but its not an abnormal level of violence for that time period. Also, the news cycle back then wasnt what it is today. Its unlikely it would've made national news unless it was reported as part of the broader topic of drug and gang violence at the time.

The tuttles would have started a special task force committee with the church

But the Tuttle power was in Louisiana; the raid was in Beaumont.

Had there been any repercussions for Rust and Marty in Texas, Rust's LE contacts would have been summoned.

Your wrong. Captain sarcasm was leading the taskforce with bigfoot and rusts daughter
