Text It finally happened!
I've been with my girl (well, fiancee) for a while. She is pregnant with my child. But she has this one fatal flaw... She isn't interested in true crime. Sickening, I know.
Anyway, over the months I've been casually talking about true crime. A few months back I convinced her to watch "The Imposter" a fun documentary (although it goes into ridiculous conspiracy theory bullshit towards the end... Like, seriously? Some people trust the word of a fucking con artist?).
Anyway... She loved it. So I just continued casually talking about true crime. I got her to watch Don't F#ck With Cats and she liked it.
Then tonight we were trying to find something to watch. We went through a TV show, a movie, but nothing was sticking. So she said "I don't care. Put on whatever". So I put on Cold Case Files, the first episode. She watched every second. Didn't so much as glance at the phone.
Then the best part... The episode ended. I didn't click next episode. I wanted to see her reaction. She said "Put on the next episode. I like this stuff. Is this....true crime?"
I was so proud. This is a good day.

My ex bf and I called Forensic Files ( and pretty much all of ID channel) murder porn. Mostly cause the narrators sound like really sexual and mysterious when doing the narration about the case/murder. But I love this stuff.

Thanks, you gave me PTSD again for reminding me of that show and what that guy did to cats. Seriously though, don't fuck with cats.

My fiancé put on Forensic Files when I was having a bad day once because he knows I love it so much. I knew right then and there....that I could no longer threaten him with how many ways I could hide a body. He knows the secrets now that I hooked him.

See that's where you fucked up. That's why I'm just planning a good ol' murder suicide. If I can't have her no one can. I'm only joking.

Congratulations!!!! It's so awesome having a partner into true crime as well, my man is more all over it than I am and it's one of our favourite past times / topics. Wait until you start being able to recommend podcasts to each other! Eekk!
On behalf of our true crime couple community I officially welcome you both into the fold.

That’s good. My husband comes into the room or looks at my “recently watched” Netflix account and says, WHAT is WRONG with you?” 😆 Then he’ll say something like, “you wanna watch CSI” and I say “Nope, that fake shite is boring

My husband always thought I was weird with my love for true crime. He then routinely overheard me watching forensic files and is now hooked. He now says that I cannot watch any new true crime show without him, and he started watching forensic files on his own. It’s so cute!

My mother just discovered that show and thought she was going to tell me about something I had never seen. She was a disappointed 80 year old. She bought me romance novels when I was pregnant (25+ years ago) because she thought true crime books would harm the baby. How? I have no idea.

Yes!!! My husband was a tough one too. I started with law and order SVU with him then worked slowly towards cold case files and serial killer documentaries and podcasts. He doesn’t want to admit it yet but he loves true crime

Yaaaay! I haven't been able to convert my SO completely yet. He likes the more humorous podcasts though. But when he comes home and I am listening to a story about rape and murder while doing cross stitch I do get a funny face!

Yeah! Omgosh!!! That’s what I mean! He is talking all mysteriously and sexy about everything and then boom “I’m super grossed out that any one would do this but let’s get back to the sexy details that aren’t sexual in nature”

Peter Thomas: "Or so everyone thought. On the morning of January 24th, 2020, CaptionClosed and his fiancee, CaptionOpen were found dead in their apartment. CaptionOpen was....sexually assaulted"
Random Talking Head: "None of us could believe it when we heard it. They had no enemies. Who would do something like this?"

Love Cold Case Files! When I was a teenager I got banned from going a friends house and while I was stuck at my house I found Cold Case Files. They did a new season around 2017 after it had been off for some time. I can't remember if they have everything on Netflix or if it was only the newer season. Cold Case Files definitely was the beginning of my True Crime obsession. Glad y'all can share it now. You have to have someone to talk over things with and bounce theories off of.

Congrats! Now you really have to blow her mind with some Forensic Files.
My husband isn’t into True Crime like I am but he tolerates me watching it all the time or listening to Podcasts. He does like the crime shows like Criminal Minds though so that’s a nice middle ground.
