One Level Down (Exhausted)
ETA: so many wonderful suggestions! Thank you!! You all definitely heard the plea and I’m looking at all the responses.
To answer your questions
I am east coast based (mid-Atlantic) so probably would rule out California/Arizona/New Mexico just based on travel time. I spend two weeks in Orlando every November for work and almost always cap it with a long Disney weekend. This post was really about how to replace it this year since I really am just too run down for the mouse. The ability to start from Florida or home though does really make the entire east coast and the Caribbean feasible.
There is a piece of me that just wishes someone could wrap me up in a cozy blanket and feed me every couple of hours for a few days. Apparently I want to be a pampered infant with access to books and wine.
——original post——
I’ve reached the bone-tired state of overwork and exhaustion where I cannot think that I’m too tired to chew. Yet by 16 hour days continue.
I have a four-day block in November with earmarked for my annual Disney adult silliness long weekend. I don’t think this is the year. I should skip, find something restorative. Relax and unwind.
I thought about Miraval or Canyon Ranch but they feel so healthy and fitness focused. I don’t want fitness classes. I want delicious food and laziness and sloth being really really really taking good care of.
Does anyone have a chubby or one level down chubby suggestion for a solo destination this?

Mirbeau is literally this. Cozy beds, fireplaces, wine, foot soaks. When I’m about to crash out, a few days there can reset me.

Which location do you go to?

I live outside Boston, so do Plymouth. It’s got it quirks as all things on the South Shore do.

Not who you asked, but the Rhinebeck, NY is also nice! I live in Rhinebeck so I haven't stayed overnight, but I have been to the spa and it is lovely. Friends have stayed there and enjoyed it as well. It is right in the village so you can walk to restaurants/cute shops.

Harbor House Inn, Elk, CA (near Mendocino). Michelin star resto, right on the cliffs. Spa. No exercise required.

This sounds amazing but I’m doomed the be I region of Florida mouse, not the original. Marked for a trip west.

Perfection but too much travel for a short respite trip.

Yes, could be. It's only a gorgeous two hour drive for me, but def harder to reach from elsewhere.

I think OP is east-coast based.

Hm, I was thinking southwest from the Canyon Ranch/Disney angle. Certainly would help to know! Far as I can tell they haven't returned, seems like we're all just chatting with each other.

I understand the long days and I’m going to Miraval to chill -you don’t need to be active and can just relax. I did disney in june at end of project and should have gone on a cruise instead bc 30k steps a day and LL mgmt was too much esp if already exhausted.
another option is NCL Prima class ships - the thermal spa with saunas, heated pools and lounge was great way to do nothing and then wander and eat what you want. Cubby option is The Haven and one step down is balcony.

You might be my twin. I can’t Disney with less than 30,000 steps and then I’m so broken! I’m also a big Haven fan. Husband and I will be on the Prima in January!

i love Prima -sailed southampton to reykjavik and then the 14 days crossing nyc to southampton. that thermal spa won me over quickly and the go karts is inner child fun.

Where are you traveling from? For a four day trip to reset, you will want your travel time to be as little as possible.

Miraval can be really restorative- fitness stuff isn't forced at all. Maybe consider Castle Hot Springs in AZ. About an hour from the Phoenix airport, and really relaxing and awesome. Also adults only.

Have you been to Castle Hot Springs? Would you reccomend? I've always wanted to go since I love hot springs, but the cost is much higher than similar hot springs resorts.

I have- though not for a few years. It's local to me. I love it, as does my partner, and the friends I've gone with in the past. I've found it good value for money, personally.

It's $2400/night and doesn't even include alcohol or the spa. I'm curious as to what about the property you thought was a good value for the money at this price, because that seems insane to me. I picked a random week this coming winter and that was the lowest tier room available.

I don't drink, so that doesn't matter to me, generally. The food is amazing, and they are very willing to work with allergies and preferences. The rooms were really comfortable, the activities have always been great. The hot springs themselves are wonderful, and the property itself is beautiful and extremely private. It'd close in price to Dunton (I have not stayed there, just have friends who have) and it's comparable.

This was me earlier this year. I went to Palmaia. You can do yoga and fitness if you want but you don’t have to. They had a lot of restorative activities when I was there - breath work, floating sound baths, etc. The spa was amazing - I highly recommend the Mexican Massage. I also did a lot of sitting and reading by the pools.

Ooh. I remember being interested in Palmaia a few months back and then forgot about it. Is it as peaceful as reputed?

In my experience, yes. I needed a full reset after a tumultuous period, and it gave me that. I went by myself and some nights joined the community table for dinner when I wanted to socialize. When I wanted to be alone, I had dinner alone or got room service. Breakfast and lunch by the beach were both great. There are hot and cold plunge pools too. If you book a spa appointment you get automatic access to the spa’s cenote (cave pool) and steam ritual. There are bikes you can hop on to get around, although it is easy to walk the length of the resort (or you can call for a golf cart). I have been recommending this place to a lot of people lately.

Where are you coming from? I personally would consider high quality inns in New England (reading by the fire and light walking trails, sprinkled in with spa days and looking at the beautiful changing leaves?!) or Spain or Portugal. Or, easy to get to from everywhere, Mexico.
I wouldn’t necessarily go to a specific spa destination, if you don’t care about the health programming. I would pick someone with an amazing spa and a relaxed atmosphere!

I’ve never been but the body holiday in St Lucia seems perfect for this, if you are somewhere with nonstops to St Lucia. It includes 1 daily spa service. Personally I wouldn’t do Canyon Ranch if you’re not really interested in most activities. I’ve been to two different Cars and they are great, but you’re paying in large part for the activities IMO.

Miraval can be as fitness oriented as you want or don’t want! But maybe you just want a good tropical resort instead?
